TAR24, Recap Leg 3, 3/9/14

Welcome to Leg 3! Last time, on Since When Do All Stars Forget Bags? , teams race about Guangzhou China.  Team Kentucky takes an early lead, and then manages to forget their bags at the Roadblock.  The Country Singers use their charm to get the Express Pass and weasel it out of the Cowboys, and promptly use it.  But it’s Brendon and Rachel who win the leg in a photo finish, and Mark and Mallory’s mistake costs them the race.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Clue: Fly to Kota Kinabalu in the state of Sabah in Malaysia on the island of Borneo!  Once there, make your way to the Kiansom Waterfall.  There are only two flights available.

(Toyouke: “They found them flights...huh. Or is that to counteract the giant bunching that happened at the end of the last leg?”)

Teams now make their way to the airport to get flights and arrive in the following order:

Teams find the Air Asia counter and get their tickets for the following flights:

Teams make their way to Kota Kinabalu and arrive in the following order:

5- Flight Time/Big Easy 

6- Caroline/Jennifer

7- Brendon/Rachel

8- Joey/Meghan

9- Jessica/John

Teams arrive at the waterfall and get their clue in the following order:

1- Dave/Connor

2- Leo/Jamal

3- Jet/Cord 

4- Margie/Luke

5- Flight Time/Big Easy 

6- Caroline/Jennifer

7- Jessica/John

8- Brendon/Rachel

9- Joey/Meghan – who don’t ask their taxi to wait.

And once they arrive, teams get the third roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who will fall for this one?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must collect the Travelocity Roaming Gnome and rappel 10 stories down the waterfall to the bottom and collect their clue before reaching the end of the rappel.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

3- Cord – who misses the clue on the way down, and has to redo the Roadblock.

4- Luke

5- Flight Time – because Big Easy is too big.  (Auburnium0513: “Has there ever been a size restriction on a task before?”  Kmanpat: “I believe so, but not in recent memory.”)

6- Jennifer

7- Jessica

8- Rachel – who takes off her sequin shorts so that they don’t get wet and then does the Roadblock in her underwear.  (Toyouke: “Rachel. They had to blur the good china because you are wearing an item of clothing that you don't want to get wet. On THE AMAZING RACE. Clothes you don't want to get wet.”)

9- Joey

After much rappelling and Gnome carrying, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Dave/Connor

2- Leo/Jamal

3- Margie/Luke 

4- Jet/Cord

5- Flight Time/Big Easy 

6- Caroline/Jennifer

7- Jessica/John

8- Brendon/Rachel

9- Joey/Meghan – who then realize their mistake about the taxi and have to wait for one to find them.

Teams are now instructed to make their way to Kampung Tompinahaton and follow the marked path to the river in order to get their next clue.  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Dave/Connor

2- Leo/Jamal

3- Margie/Luke 

4- Jet/Cord

5- Caroline/Jennifer

6- Flight Time/Big Easy 

7- Jessica/John

8- Brendon/Rachel

9- Joey/Meghan

And we get the Detour Clue.  But first, all teams must build a raft in order to get them to the Detour of their choice, so teams complete the rafts in the following order.

1- Dave/Connor

2- Leo/Jamal

3- Jet/Cord 

4- Margie/Luke

5- Caroline/Jennifer

6- Flight Time/Big Easy 

7- Jessica/John

8- Brendon/Rachel

9- Joey/Meghan

DETOUR:

River Delivery OR Jungle Run

*River Delivery: Teams must raft to Kampung Tombung and deliver a number of items to the village chief and then complete the rafting of the river to get their next clue.

*Jungle Run: Teams must raft to Kampung Linsuk and join a hunting party to use blowdarts to kill two fake birds perched in the trees, and then complete  the rafting of the river to get their next clue.

1- Leo/Jamal choose River Delivery

2- Jet/Cord choose River Delivery

3- Margie/Luke choose River Delivery

4- Dave/Connor choose River Delivery – and only arrive fourth because they rafted past the destination and then walked their goods back to the village.  (Toyouke: “I want to know why they didn't Bald Snark.”)

5- Caroline/Jennifer choose Jungle Run

6- Flight Time/Big Easy choose Jungle Run

7- Jessica/John choose Jungle Run

8- Brendon/Rachel choose Jungle Run – and get fun Survivor style editing.

9- Joey/Meghan choose Jungle Run – (Toyouke: “Probably the most butch thing Joey's done ever.”  Auburnium0513: Really? It is a BLOW gun...”)

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Dave/Connor – (Toyouke: “Still in first place! NO IDEA how that happened.”)

8- Brendon/Rachel – (Toyouke: “Rachel made fun of John and Jessica's raft and karma laughed and busted her raft. I don't want to make fun of her too much because I totally would have laughed at John and Jessica's raft too.”)

Teams find now that they must travel to Tanjun Aru Water Village, the PIT STOP of the third leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!

1- Dave/Connor – who win a trip for two from Travelocity to Budapest. . . HUNGARY!
