Welcome back to the Amazing Race! It’s season number thirty-seven. It’s been a full year since out last one, and we’re finally taping episodes without COVID restrictions! Oh, and I brought Toyouke along for the snark. Aren’t you lucky? We’ve read the bios and watched the videos, so let’s get to this shall we? (Toyouke: “I’m very annoyed they don't have good bios or individual videos this year.”) The fourteen (!) teams for TAR37 are (click for more):
Alyssa and Josh, Team Newlywed. They are newlyweds from Philly. I mean, they’re fine. (Toyouke: “It's a team that could be really competent or they could fight constantly and there's no way to know.”) Prediction: Twelfth Place.
Bernie and Carrigain, Team Bestie Girls. Best friends from Texas. Honestly look tough, but we’ll see. (Toyouke: Bernie says that Carrigain is going to keep her focused. I'm not sure if that's how their friendship works the best or if Bernie is going to blame Carrigain for a meltdown.”) Prediction: Seventh Place.
Brett and Mark, Team Gay Married. Married couple from Nevada. They are really cute and strong. I’m expecting good things. (Toyouke: “They're every other young fit gay couple ever. Brett's bio says "acrobat" so let's hope he works at Cirque.”) Prediction: Second Place.
Carson and Jack, Team Bestie Boys. Best friends from Brooklyn NY. I wonder if they know the brothers. (Toyouke: “They think they're gonna be Tyler and Korey and they are not Tyler and Korey.”) Truth, but they’re still good to look at. Prediction: Ninth Place.
Courtney and Jasmin, Team Dating Dames. Dating nurses from North Carolina. They look likeable. (Toyouke: “Nurses usually do pretty well, right?”) That they do. Prediction: Winners, TAR37.
Ernest and Bridget, Team Father-Daughter Dance. Dad and daughter from Chicago and Boston. Also finding that they no longer live in the same city. (Toyouke: “Family teams are tricky, but they might be fine.”) Prediction: Sixth Place.
Han and Holden, Team Sibling Rivalry. Siblings from California. They look like they will be fine. But apparently they annoy each other. (Toyouke: “If you don't get along then why did you sign up to spend the next six weeks together 24/7?”) We’re going to have to deal with this for a while, because television. Prediction: Third Place.
Jackye and Lauren, Team Sister Sister. Sisters from Texas. They generally look pretty badass. (Toyouke: “They're on the older side so I'm not sure if they can keep up.”) Prediction: Eighth Place.
Jonathan and Ana, Team California Fitness. Married couple from California. Not really getting a strong read on them. (Toyouke: “They look annoying but I'm not sure why.”) Prediction: Eleventh Place.
Mark and Larry, Team Hey Old Friend. Best friends from Tennessee. Older teams tend not to make it too far. (Toyouke: “Obligatory old man team.”) Prediction: Fourteenth Place.
Melinda and Erika, Team Mother-Daughter Dance. Mom and daughter from Colorado and Arizona. I’m guessing they don’t live in the same town anymore. There’s a lot of family teams this year. Generally parent-kid teams do mediocre. (Toyouke: “Sadly mother/daughter teams do even worse than father/daughter teams.”) Prediction: Tenth Place.
Nick and Mike, Team Oh Brother. Brothers from Brooklyn NY. All male teams always seem to do well, and sibling teams of brothers have had some decent success. Apparently they’ve put in their application to be on the show for years. (Toyouke: “I hope they don't keep mentioning how many times they've applied. Because big deal.”) Prediction: Fifth Place.
Pops and Jeff, Team Family From the Lou. Father son team from St. Louis MO. I love that they have the same name so dad has to go by “Pops”. (Toyouke: “If they have any level of intelligence they should be fine.”) Prediction: Fourth Place.
Scott and Lori, Team Octomom. Married couple from Salt Lake City. They apparently have eight kids. (Toyouke: “8 kids + "Salt Lake" T-shirts = I have come to a conclusion which may or may not be correct.”) I don’t think they are getting too far. Prediction: Thirteenth Place.
And there it is. Another crazy batch of “ordinary” contestants. Hopefully, you are able to tune in on Wednesday, March 5 at 8:30 pm CDT for the premiere! We’ll see you and the first recap then!
