Welcome back to the Amazing Race! It’s season number thirty-eight. We’ve only had to wait about six months for this one! Apparently, it is filled with teams where one-half of the team has already been a contestant on Big Brother and the other half missed them so much that they had to go on another reality show together to catch up. Also, this is apparently The Amazing Race: European Adventure, because one gimmick wasn’t enough. Oh, and I brought Toyouke along for the snark. Aren’t you lucky? Except since there weren’t great bios or videos this year, we’ll have to fly a little by the seat of our pants, so let’s get to this shall we? The thirteen teams for TAR38 are (click for more):
Angela and Lexi, Team Mother-Daughter Dance. Mom and daughter from the western states. Angela, the mom, was actually the Big Brother contestant back in Season 26. They have a cute energy, but family teams don’t tend to be strong unless they have at least one strong member, and I think both are a little flighty here. Prediction: Thirteenth Place.
Hannah and Simone, Team Grad Student Girls. Sisters and College Students on opposite coasts. Hannah was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 23. They look pretty badass, actually. Prediction: Third Place.
Izzy and Paige, Team EnGayged. Engaged couple from New York City. Izzy was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 25. They are very laid back, but I enjoy their energy. Prediction: Ninth Place.
Jack and Chelsie, Team Father-Daughter Dance. Dad and daughter from California. Chelsie was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 26. They look nice. Chelsie has a good energy about her, and I think she’ll really get along with her dad. Prediction: Sixth Place.
Jack and Enzo, Team Jersey Brothers. Their team name says it all. Enzo was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Seasons 12 and 22. I think their age could be a factor, as they have the oldest combined age of any team. But they are guys, so who knows. Prediction: Tenth Place.
Jas and Jag, Team Sikh Bros. Brothers and Entrepreneurs from Washington State. Jag was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 25. They look fun, but I predict a number of close calls with them. I feel like they are going to be the team I want to make the final three but just miss out. Prediction: Fourth Place.
Joseph and Adam, Team Law Bros. Brothers and Lawyers from Florida. Joseph was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 24. I can’t really get a read on them, I think they look strong, but they could screw up at some point. Prediction: Seventh Place.
Kat and Alex, Team Dating Games. Dating from Dallas. Kat was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 21. Meh. They look ineffectual. Prediction: Eleventh Place.
Kristina and Rubina, Team California Entrepreneur. Sisters from Los Angeles. Rubina was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 26. I think they look fairly strong. Prediction: Fifth Place.
Kyland and Taylor, Team Influencer. Dating from Los Angeles. Both of them were Big Brother contestants, Kyland appearing on Season 23, and Taylor appearing on Season 24 and Reindeer Games. I love Kyland. I think this is my pick to click. Prediction: Winners, TAR38.
Megan and Matt, Team Newlywed. Somehow, the only married team of the season, from Rhode Island. Matt was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 24. I don’t know, they seem very young acting. I think they could get it together, but I’m worried about inexperience. Prediction: Twelfth Place.
Natalie and Stephanie, Team Sister Sister. Sisters from opposite coasts. Natalie was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 18. Stephanie looks insanely capable, and I feel like Natalie’s beauty queen looks are a front. Prediction: Second Place.
Tucker and Eric, Team Oh Brother. Brothers from the east coast. Tucker was the Big Brother contestant, appearing on Season 26. You know the special place I have for hot boy teams, and Tucker is a chef. But they have a smarminess that might get in the way. Prediction: Eighth Place.
And there it is. Another crazy batch of “ordinary” contestants, with some Big Brother shenanigans thrown in. Hopefully, you are able to tune in on Thursday, September 25 at 8:30 pm CDT for the premiere! We’ll see you and the first recap then!
