3- Carson/Jack

4- Alyssa/Josiah

5- Brett/Mark – who get ridiculously lost on the way to the council. Mark, chanting: “We can’t be the only ones who got lost. . . we can’t be the only ones who got lost . . .” God: “Yes, you are. And I’m in the tub.” (Toyouke: “Oh my God, they gave you directions?! And you're still lost?!”)

Jonathan/Ana, Han/Holden and Carson/Jack all arrive and are subject to Hours of Operation, which is 8 am. They are allowed to enter the building and find the council chambers, where they are allowed in one at a time. Teams must then answer the question, “Which four European countries that you have actively raced in are members of the Council of Europe?” (Toyouke: “Ha! Take this pop quiz before you get your clue.”) When teams answer correctly (Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, France), they will be allowed to take their clue from the clue box. (Toyouke: “I'm assuming this quiz is an anti-bunching measure, but you could have just...not had hours of operation.”) Teams get their clues in the following order:

1- Carson/Jack

2- Han/Holden

3- Jonathan/Ana

4- Alyssa/Josiah – but not before Josiah inexplicably guesses UAE and Indonesia. (Toyouke: “"UAE" what in the heck "Indonesia" good thing you're cute.”)

Teams open their clues and come to the eleventh roadblock.

ROADBLOCK:
Who’s ready to go head to head?

In this roadblock, one team member must take up the ancient sport of water jousting. In the Head to Head battle, once a roadblocker knocks the other roadblocker off their boat, teams get their next clue. The last team standing with have a 10 minute penalty for finishing last.

The following team members complete the Roadblock.

1- Han
2- Carson –
who thinks he’ll be good because he’s a nerd. (Toyouke: “OK listen stop bragging that you're going to be good at jousting because you're nerds. Jousting on a horse is not anywhere near the same as this.”)
3- Jonathan

4- Josiah

5- Mark

HEAD-TO-HEAD

In this Head to Head, teams must play each other in water jousting. The winner moves on to the next task. The loser stays behind to compete until they win.

Teams compete in the Head to Head in the following order:

1) Han VS Carson – Han’s balance helps her win the match.

2) Carson VS Jonathan – Carson wins the match.

3) Jonathan VS Josiah – Jonathan wins the match.

4) Josiah VS Mark – Josiah wins the match, handing Brett/Mark the penalty.

(Toyouke: “This is one of those tasks where the team that's lost the Head-to-Head gets an advantage because they've done it before. They know how to do it.”) After much water jousting, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Han/Holden
2- Carson/Jack
3- Jonathan/Ana

4- Alyssa/Josiah

5- Brett/Mark

Teams are now instructed to make their way on foot to La Cloche à Fromage to get their next clue. (Toyouke: “Is the name of the cheese shop "cheese hat"?” Kmanpat: “No, the cloche is the thing the put over the cheese to keep it fresh.”) Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Han/Holden
2- Carson/Jack
3- Jonathan/Ana

4- Alyssa/Josiah

5- Brett/Mark

Teams are now instructed to learn the names of nine cheeses in the shop. Once they feel they know all nine, they must travel to the adjoining restaurant and identify the nine cheeses in order to get their next clue. Teams complete the challenge in the following order:

1- Han/Holden
2- Carson/Jack
3- Jonathan/Ana

4- Alyssa/Josiah – who actually use their Express Pass, after much debate and frustration from Alyssa. (Toyouke: “Alyssa has a great point about the Express Pass.”)

5- Brett/Mark

Teams are now instructed to make their way on foot to Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg and climb the steps to the top to get their next clue. Teams arrive at the top of the cathedral and get their clues in the following order:

2- Carson/Jack
3- Jonathan/Ana

4- Alyssa/Josiah

DETOUR:

Out to Dry OR For the Birds

*Out to Dry: Teams drive themselves to the city of Scherwiller and find 2 Rue de Marechal Joffre, where they must take a tub of dirty laundry and wash it in a traditional style in the nearby river. Once all the clothing has been washed to the supervisor’s satisfaction, teams get their next clue.

*For the Birds: Teams drive themselves to the city of Scherwiller and find 4 Rue Saint-Wolfgang, where they must follow an example and build a stork nest. Once completed to the satisfaction of the supervisor, teams get their next clue.

1- Carson/Jack choose Out to Dry – (Toyouke: “Please tell me these old ladies are making fun of the teams.”)

2- Brett/Mark choose For the Birds

3- Alyssa/Josiah choose For the Birds

4- Han/Holden choose Out to Dry

5- Jonathan/Ana choose Out to Dry – they arrive last because they get lost on the way to Scherwiller. (Toyouke: “Yeah one person navigates and one person drives. That's how it works. Either you have to get new directions because you're so much better at it than Ana, or you need to keep going and you can't stop. It can't be both.”)

Much laundry washing and nest building ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Carson/Jack
2- Brett/Mark

3- Jonathan/Ana

4- Alyssa/Josiah

5- Han/Holden

Teams are now instructed to make their way on foot to Vico 2 Montesanto in the Montesanto Quarter to get their next clue. Teams arrive at the clue box in the following order:

1- Jonathan/Ana
2- Alyssa/Josiah

3- Brett/Mark

4- Jonathan/Ana

5- Han/Holden

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves to the grape fields and find the Table d’Orientation, the PIT STOP of the tenth leg of this racearoundtheworld. (Toyouke: “Would the orientation table at a specific vineyard even be on Google Maps? Shouldn't they be looking for the vineyard?” Kmanpat: “Oh, I checked, the table is on Google Maps.”) The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

1- Carson/Jack – who 1 Key Cash for a trip for two to Helsinki, Finland.

2- Alyssa/Josiah

3- Jonathan/Ana

4- Han/Holden

5- Brett/Mark

And Brett and Mark are the last team to arrive and are eliminated. Mark says that he’s really proud of themselves.

3rd – Jonathan/Ana

4th – Han/Holden

Next week: Portugal! And we inch ever closer to the Finish Line! Until next time!
