TAR25, Recap Leg 12, 12/19/14

Welcome to Leg 12! Last time, on Why Do All the Detours Have To Be Blind This Season, teams continued to race through Manila in one of the most uninteresting legs ever.  Amy and Maya finished last and found themselves. . . not eliminated?  Yes that’s right folks, the final 3 is now the final 4!  But the leg starts NOW!   And in the end one of these four teams will be eliminated part way through the leg: Adam and Bethany, the surfers, who between them have three arms and still do more than I’d ever accomplish; Misti and Jim, the dentists who have won a Save that they never used and five of the eleven legs thus far; Brooke and Robbie, the dating wrestlers who struggled but provided that much needed sense of humor on the race; and Amy and Maya, the dessert scientists who are not the fastest team, but definitely the smartest and have survived multiple injuries and crashes.  Who will win The Amazing Race 25?(click for more)

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

Brooke/Robbie (1st)

Clue: Fly to your FINAL DESTINATION CITY: Los Angeles, California!  Once at LAX, find the Ford Explorer Sports with Sync Tech in order to get your next clue.  Do not open your envelope until instructed to do so.  WARNING: One team will be eliminated in the middle of the leg.

Teams make their way to the airport and arrive in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie – who are complaining about the fact that the scientists are around.  Brooke: “We love a million dollars more than you!” (Toyouke: "I am SUPER suspicious about this "twist". Someone REALLY wanted the scientists around, is what it feels like. Also no one wants to see you, Amy and Maya, so don't act like you're above all that. You can figure it out.")

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Misti/Jim

4- Amy/Maya

Teams get their flight to Los Angeles, and all end up on the same flight.  The Amazing Red Line takes us across the Atlantic to the City of Angels.  So, teams arrive in Los Angeles in the following order:

1- Amy/Maya

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Misti/Jim

4- Brooke/Robbie

The teams get in their Ford Explorers and find out that their next clue is in their envelope, and they need to see the Film LA clerk in City Hall to get their clue.  So teams drive themselves to City Hall and arrive in the following order:

1- Amy/Maya

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Misti/Jim

4- Brooke/Robbie – who get extremely turned around on the LA highways.

Teams have their film permits approved and are now instructed to travel to the Southwest Marine Warehouse to give the permit to the Assistant Director.  They arrive in the following order:

1- Amy/Maya

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Misti/Jim

4- Brooke/Robbie

When teams arrive, they get the ninth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to be a Hollywood action hero?

In this roadblock, one team member must learn and perform a stunt to get their next clue from the briefcase they are holding.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Maya

2- Adam

3- Jim

Brooke and Robbie arrive just in time to see the wrap up of filming and the arrival of Phil to tell them that this is the final elimination of the Race.  They were disappointed, but now have to hurry and get to the mat!

ORDER NOW:

1st – Amy/Maya

2nd – Adam/Bethany

3rd – Misti/Jim

After much jumping out of windows, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Amy/Maya – who forget to change out of their outfits.

2- Adam/Bethany  

3- Misti/Jim – who can’t seem to find the clue in the briefcase.

Teams are now instructed to make their way to the US Coast Guard Base at Terminal Island and choose a Rapid Response boat.  They arrive in the following order:

1- Adam/Bethany

2- Amy/Maya 

3- Misti/Jim

Teams arrive at Terminal Island and find out that they are going to do search and rescue training.  Teams don wetsuits and take the boat to a buoy in the ocean.  Once there, they must snorkel to the 185 pound dummy, release a smoke flare, and return the dummy to boat to get their clue. (Toyouke: "Another non-Detour, non-Roadblock task.") They complete the task in the following order:

1- Adam/Bethany

2- Amy/Maya  

3- Misti/Jim

Teams are now instructed to head back to the dock, find a taxi and travel to Conglobal Industries and find the Bloomington Container Sales Office.  Teams arrive at Conglobal in the following order:

1- Adam/Bethany

2- Misti/Jim 

3- Amy/Maya

And teams get the tenth and final roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who can’t contain themselves?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must complete the final task to get their clue.  The person that did not take the first roadblock of the leg MUST take this one.

FINAL TASK:

Teams find thousands of shipping containers.  Roadblockers must find the nine that have each city from the race printed on them and find a specific number based on the color code for their team.  Once teams remember all nine numbers in the order that they visited each city, the foreman will deliver their next clue.  For reference, the nine cities and their codes are:

Saint Thomas: 823

London: 156

Lerwick: 718

Copenhagen: 601

Marrakesh: 596

Palermo: 150

Valletta: 489

Singapore: 923

Manila: 834

All of the codes were listed as blue, orange, yellow.

After much searching for crates and remembering numbers, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

Once teams reunite, they learn they need to race to the mat at Point Vincent Lighthouse in Rancho Palos Verdes to find the FINISH LINE of this racearoundtheworld.  The first team to arrive WILL win the Amazing Race!

8 countries, 20 cities, 26000  miles, Amy and Maya, you are the winners of The Amazing Race 25!  And we find out that the Sweet Scientists are only the third all female team to win the race.  And Maya takes a victory lap.
