90 Day Fiance--"Not What I Thought" summary s6e5

Previously on “90 Day Fiance”: Larissa wanted to buy a couch, but Colt's mom wouldn't let her buy one without Colt's input. She sulked for a while, and then we were told that Colt and his mom share a bank account and that Colt thought they'd continue that after marriage. Mom clarified later (on the live show) that they have a joint account for household expenses, but they also have separate accounts. She also said Larissa is really funny and has redeeming qualities. Larissa and Colt went to visit Colt's cousin, who decided they're not going to work out because Colt just wants sex, and Larissa is just using him for a green card. Olga went into labor, and Steven was a complete idiot about how he was going to be present for his son's birth, if he had to fight the whole hospital. They did eventually let him in, and then Olga went for a Cesarean section so who knows how Steven is going to react. Leida's family returned to Wisconsin, but not after she told Eric her son isn't comfortable with him, like that's going to help. When she finally saw his apartment, she was horrified because it's a huge mess. Eric blamed his daughter, but she said in the live show afterwards that he did not clean before leaving. Leida hated the apartment and she doesn't like that Eric speaks to his ex wife and she knows her family will hate it too. Ashley threw Jay a surprise party, and of course Jay and Natalie had to have a conversation where he demanded she say exactly what she overheard about his cheating, which she wouldn't do, but then he never actually denied anything. Jay decided this drama meant that Natalie had to be cut out of their lives forever, and Ashley agreed, saying Natalie was just jealous and attention-seeking. So she cut Natalie out of the wedding. Fernanda and Jonathan went to Myrtle Beach to get away. During dinner Fernanda said she was worried Jonathan's family wouldn't like her, even though he made it clear he didn't care if they did or not. Later they went clubbing, and some random girl tried to dance with him. Fernanda lost it and stormed out and they had a big fight. Asuelu and Kalani are going to move to Utah, because Kalani quit her job to hang out with Asuelu and so now they have to live at her parents' second home. Before they left, they had another super awkward dinner with her sister, who reluctantly admitted she'll probably have to give Asuelu a chance. (click for more)

Jonathan and Fernanda continue their argument. She does not believe him at all. Some cop car comes by, or maybe it's just security, and nothing happens even though they tried to make it seem like someone was about to be arrested. Fernanda doesn't want him anywhere near her, and she is absolutely convinced Johnathan was dancing with this blonde girl. Fernanda says he doesn't respect her, and Jonathan is kind of offended by that. He thinks Fernanda doesn't care about what actually happened. He suggests they talk about it at the hotel, and she says she just wants to go back to the hotel and not talk to him. He thinks she's too young to handle this “in a mature way”. I don't know that she'll improve as she gets older.

Olga is going into the operating room to have her C section. Steven is finally freaking out, because it's confusing. You don't have to do anything. You'd be confused in America because I'm sure you don't have any medical knowledge. He tells Olga he's nervous which, shut up Steven. He keeps talking to her, about how he can feel her shaking and does she feel anything and see, you don't and if you'd had a natural birth you'd be in so much pain. Shut UP, dude. Olga finally says “Steven? Now?” because she's tired of it too, and I think he actually shuts up. He does mean well, because he wants to give his son a good life, with a dad who is around and available to help him. The baby is huge, and very loud. Sadly Steven doesn't faint. But I'm glad everything turned out OK. Both Steven and Olga get emotional. Steven names him Richie, after his dad. The doctor says he's 4 kilos, and Steven decides this means “kilometers” because he's still an idiot. I think she's asleep. Steven picks up his son and Olga says she saw him grow up. It's crazy that they've only known each other for like a month, and now they're parents.

Colt and Larissa are sitting in the car, and Colt is just gazing at her for some reason, and then he says “darlin'” like he does and leans in for a kiss. Larissa barely moves, and then turns back to the front of the car looking irritated. She's still pissed about the heat and no AC in the car. Mom said on the live show it's because they lived in Seattle until like a year ago, and you don't need AC in Seattle. Fair. Larissa of course wants a fancy car with all the bells and whistles. Colt says she's impulsive and always wants to buy things, and she has no idea what things cost in America. Somehow she thinks they can get a car for $500. I mean...you could get some kind of car for $500 probably. Colt starts lecturing her about how they need something reasonably priced, because she doesn't have a job or credit, “so the onus is on me again.” He says this with a very smug eyebrow lift, and you know she doesn't know what “onus” means. Half your audience probably doesn't know what “onus” means. (It means “burden”). I'm pretty sure Larissa knows she's spending YOUR money and not HER money. I swear he's so condescending I don't know how anyone puts up with it. Larissa's argument is that she's going to marry him so she has 70% of the decision. Uh huh. Larissa thinks that Colt should do whatever she wants, I guess. She thinks he should treat her better and show his big love for her. Or whatever.

They get to a dealership and Colt says they're looking for a car. Hilarious. Larissa demands a sexy car, air conditioning, and “fancy cars”. Colt does not want to look at luxury cars. Larissa interviews that she wants a big black truck or SUV, and the guy drives over with one. I don't think it's that great, but I like my tiny hatchback that I can wedge into street parking just to piss off the suburbanites who leave too much space between themselves when parallel parking. Sorry, that's not important. It's got three rows of seats, which they do not need at all. It does appear to be used, based on the stickers on the front (I think it's last year's model). When Colt asks the price, the guy says it's $23,000, and Larissa says it's cheap. It's not a spectacular deal, in that I could find that car at that price currently. But $23K for a huge SUV that's only a couple years old? That car is at least twice the price new. Colt says maybe not so much, and asks to look at a smaller car. He says his budget is $10,000. Yeah, good luck. For context, my car is 18 years old and that's how much it cost new. And it's a hatchback with a tiny engine. You can do a decent used car for that much, but it would be better if you paid a little more. The car the guy has brought over is a Scion, I think. Are those the ones that are super boxy? I don't know, but it's pretty ugly. At least it's a 4-door. Larissa of course hates it. She tries to say that Colt is a big guy and needs a big car. I mean there's some comfort issues but in general, Colt doesn't seem to care about his car. The guy says this car is only $9,000. It has AC too. Larissa interviews that it's important that they have a big and comfortable car, “because if you bring someone from another country, you need to spend money to take care of the woman.” He's getting you a car with AC, calm down. Larissa tries to argue that she would rather have the car than a wedding, which I am sure is not actually true. Colt does not feel a car is a priority.

Ashley and Jay head to some market. She says that he's not getting comfortable, and she's also clinging to the story that Natalie confronted Jay at his party. As opposed to a producer telling them to talk. Ashley says she can't have anything interfering with the relationship, as if it might fall apart if anyone pushed on it in the slightest. Ashley thought her friends would support her even if she WAS making a bad choice. Girl really? I think we all know as soon as you figured it out you'd be pissed they didn't tell you it was a bad choice. Although I guess if you only want to be surrounded by yes men that's up to you. Jay asks about various things he sees, and interviews that he's still not comfortable here without his friends. Jay says the food here is alright. But then he gets excited about pickles. As they wander around, Jay has noticed he's the only black person in the whole building. He's uncomfortable and just wants to leave. There are people watching him, and I can't tell if they're looking at him because he's black, or they're looking because there are cameras and they're trying to figure out what show it is.

They find a table and eat pickles and Jay tries to explain how he felt being watched all the time. Jay also knows from the internet that the cops could give him trouble for no reason. He asks Ashley why white people always think a black person is bad. I don't think Ashley is qualified to answer this question, or that she's thought about racism very much. She literally has nothing to say, except to say she's “infuriated”. She hopes he won't want to go home. Ashley sort of shrugs and says they'll have to get used to it, and Jay corrects her that HE will have to get used to it. Fair. Listen, I'm not sure what she could have said at this moment to reassure Jay. I'd be uncomfortable if I was him. So I don't know what the solution is.

Asuelu and Kalani pack up the car to drive to Utah. It's a six hour drive, across California and the southern part of Nevada. Kalani is sad to leave California, but they don't have options. Due to her quitting her job for no reason. She also talks about these “life changes” and not having her parents and her sister around. First of all, you can call them still. Second, her brother is living in the house in Utah. Third, I still think she is as much to blame for her sister hating Asuelu as her sister is.

They chit chat about how when Asuelu gets his driver's license he's going to speed, and how he thinks cars cost $100. Oliver gets a little fussy and they try to put a toy back there. It's one of those things where you pull a string and it plays a lullaby. Kalani says it's annoying, and Asuelu says that's her family word. Heh. Kalani tries to argue that it's her and Kolini's word, and Asuelu says that the two of them are “very annoying person in the whole world.” Damn. She says he's annoying. As they laugh, Oliver starts crying. He is just wailing, and Kalani goes from 0 to 60 instantly, saying that's hurt crying and asking Asuelu what he did. It didn't look like he did anything, honestly. I have no idea. Asuelu is trying to calm Oliver down, and is not answering Kalani. Eventually he takes Oliver out of the car seat to hold him, and Kalani screams at him that he “can't take the fucking baby out of the fucking car seat”.

After commercial, Oliver is still squalling, although when he was out of the car seat he was quiet so maybe he's crying because they're both yelling. Asuelu asks how he was supposed to calm him down without holding him? Kalani has pulled over to the shoulder, and she is freaking out so badly she needs a couple of tries to talk to Asuelu. She says in America you cannot take the baby out of the car seat while the car is moving. As she's yelling all of a sudden she yells at him to give her Oliver, as if she'd asked him and he wasn't moving. I guess he was just supposed to default to letting her deal with it? I get that babies should be in car seats, but that's so if you crash they don't go flying. Kalani is acting like he WILL go flying the instant he's not buckled in. She interviews that she's in a blackout rage and if they weren't in the car she'd deck him. OK is it that serious though? She tells him you put a pacifier in, you don't take him out of the car seat. But you were demanding to know what happened and that he was hurt. Did we all forget that part of her yelling, that she decided Oliver was hurt and immediately blamed Asuelu for hurting him somehow? There was no way she would have been satisfied with him just giving the baby a pacifier. They don't use car seats in Samoa so he had no idea. He's upset that she yelled at him instead of telling him in a nice way. The baby starts crying again, and Asuelu just gives him a pacifier as instructed. Kalani actually pulls off into a parking lot to take the baby. I feel like she believes she's the only one who can really calm down and soothe her son. I mean I know she's mad at Asuelu, but it feels like at some level she thinks he's fucking it up and she's going to have to do everything. Kalani tries to apologize, but Asuelu is sulking and not looking at her. She asks him to look at her, but with a “look at me when I'm talking to you” attitude and not a “please look at me, I'm sorry” attitude. As she tries to apologize for cussing, Asuelu puts his fingers in his ears. Jeez. Asuelu interviews that Kalani talks to him like he's a little kid which she kind of does. As they get back on the road, she mutters that this trip has taken off five years of her life. Well maybe if you hadn't QUIT YOUR JOB TO HANG OUT WITH BOYS this wouldn't have happened. Or if you hadn't lied to your sister for months. As they drive Kalani has to nag Asuelu to put his seatbelt back on.

They for some reason don't even make it to Utah, and are at some hotel. I thought it was a six hour drive? Even accounting for pit stops and whatever stops Kalani made to freak out, they should have been able to get there, right? Kalani claims in confessional that this “situation” makes her doubt wanting to get married. He didn't leave the baby in the car or something. Although he could try to explain why he's pissed. Kalani is really going to harp on how dangerous this is, while I think that there are far worse things he could be doing. But go off, I guess. It's not like he's a first-time parent with no idea how to do anything because he doesn't have kids.

Leida tells us that she was supposed to spend that first night in Wisconsin with Eric in the apartment, but instead she spent the night with her parents in the other apartment Eric rented for them. She tells her family what a dump it was, and he needs a bigger bed and a couch and a clean house. His bed is small for two people, and he has an inflatable couch. Reina is pissed, clearly. Weren't Eric's other two daughters supposed to come home from work yesterday and meet her? Like wasn't Tasha supposed to meet her, so they could talk about whose mess it really is? Because Tasha is claiming Eric left the apartment that way. Leida I think decides that her family should see the apartment, and of course everyone agrees. I really got the feeling here that Leida was on board with this. Just in case she changes her story later. Eric is at work, which is why he can't keep to his plan of not letting Leida's parents see the apartment so they can't be disappointed. They bring along a lot of luggage for some reason. So even though supposedly Tasha and Eric were home last night, it's still messy. Her father has no comment. They all seem to agree the bedroom is too small, but Tasha hasn't moved out yet. Her room is a mess, but I mean, she's like 19 and whatever. And supposedly she's moving out. Reina says Eric has to understand that now he has a five year old. Leida claims she's told him to find a bigger place, and Eric said he's been working on it. When did she tell him? Because I thought she had no idea how small the apartment was? Reina tells Leida she shouldn't even think about living here, and Eric is probably lying about his finances. Leida tears up and says that Eric claims to be working on it, so she has to have faith it will work out. I can't figure out what her thought process is here. She kept saying that her family will force her to move back to Indonesia if they aren't satisfied with her life in Wisconsin, but then she showed them the apartment and complained about how terrible it was. But now she has to stick it out? Reina interviews that Leida is naive and just blindly believes everything anyone tells her. Reina thinks the apartment is “not appropriate” but it's not that bad. Yes, it's messy, but once Tasha moves out then Alless will have his own bedroom and it's not a slum. Leida's dad demands that she find another place. Then she interviews, “Well, my family hate the apartment.” I mean...how did you expect them to react? You know? But she agrees and says Eric failed her and she's not ready to marry him.

The next morning Fernanda is still pissed because she believes Jonathan was cheating on her. Jonathan knows he didn't do anything wrong, but if she won't believe him then he's not sure what that means for their future. She's still mad. Now she's mad again about the underwear. She doesn't think she deserves this. Jonathan tries to reassure her that he understands what it looked like, and she says he doesn't get it because she doesn't put him in any situations like that. Fair. He says if the situation was reversed, he wouldn't just assume she was in the wrong. Jonathan tells her she can't act like that, because what if drunk blonde woman had pressed charges? Then they'd never give Fernanda her citizenship and she'd have to go back to Mexico. Fernanda shrugs and says whatever. If he puts her in this situation, she'd prefer to go back to Mexico anyway. I'm not sure if there's anything else Jonathan can do here, because the problem is she flat out does not believe him and I think on some level she doesn't care. Fernanda gets heated in confessional and says it's not her fault for trying to fight, it's Jonathan's fault because he could have said “No thank you, my fiance's in the bathroom”. That's literally what he said! And he told you he said that! I honestly have no idea. Jonathan tells her, again, that he told the blonde woman to get lost. Then Fernanda seizes on the fact that he told her “I can't” instead of “I won't”. Really? Now you're just refusing to forgive him. You're going to move the goalposts and be mad he didn't use the correct words to get rid of some thot? She asks him what used to happen when he went out alone, which I thought she didn't want to know about. Fernanda doesn't think he's being loyal and she's stupid. She gave up her life in Mexico, and it would be really hard to go back, because she'd have to give up her relationship. Yeah but you literally just said you'd do it? Once Jonathan has groveled enough, I guess, she just stops yelling at him without saying she forgives him or believes him or anything. Jonathan says Fernanda is explosive, and he's going to have to try to keep her from exploding. She cannot act like this with his family. You mean where he said the same thing a million times, and at some arbitrary moment she forgave him? So there's no way for him to know how to apologize or what to do to make her not mad at him?

Colt knows Larissa is unhappy she didn't get the couch or car she wanted, so today he's going to “fix” that and get her a ring. Didn't she literally say she would rather have a car than a wedding? She doesn't have a ring, because Colt didn't have one when he proposed the first time. He comes downstairs to ask his mom for her opinion on the ring he bought. It's a huge stone. When did he get this ring? They only have one car. It's not that he can sneak off. Mom is not really convinced he should get married, as we know. He tells Mom he loves Larissa enough to put up with her crap. A rousing endorsement. Mom doesn't think Larissa has any patience. Colt brings up the joint bank account, which I find interesting because he told the producers he thought they'd all keep it after marriage, and Mom has claimed it's for household expenses. Ah, he's just saying they'll have to put her on the account. Mom says he'll have to explain how it works, and budgets, and Colt isn't even looking at her when he says he knows. Mom did offer to take her own name off it, since she knows Larissa wants her to move out. Colt gives his mom the ring to hide it. He also believes that his mother won't believe Larissa is really here until they're actually married.

Steven tries to set up some toys in the apartment. He says Olga is being discharged today, which is great because he's only been able to spend an hour a day with them. What else are you going to do? The baby sleeps and eats. That's basically it. Steven complains that he flew all the way here to be with them, and “Russian rules” are keeping them apart. You're there for two months. We are talking about a few days, and if the birth was any indication, you would just spend the whole time demanding attention and talking about yourself so what is the point exactly? He somehow is driving. He goes to the hospital, where Olga says everyone is OK and she can come home. He hugs her, but she's still in pain from surgery. She says she told him a few times already, which I can believe. He keeps stroking the baby's face, and Olga tells him to stop always touching the baby. To be fair, the baby had a red mark right under where he's touching, but I don't know if that's a coincidence or not. Steven goes from 0 to 60 and scowls at Olga, and says “I can touch if I want.” He thinks that since he's not allowed in the hospital, basically, he should be allowed to learn on his own. OK but this isn't some random person telling you this. He tells her to relax, and she says she'll relax if he listens to her. She is just trying to keep the baby from germs. As she breastfeeds, he unpacks some clothes, and then demands that she go get dressed. She says he's eating, and Steven argues that he is not eating and she needs to go get dressed. I think she probably knows better if he's eating or not, Steven. For some reason he's decided that if they're discharged, they need to leave right this second. I wonder if Olga put him on the birth certificate. Because if she didn't, he needs to understand that he has absolutely no say in anything right now. I mean he can't read the birth certificate anyway, or ask anyone for it. Now he's sulking like a child. Olga says things are harder for her after surgery, and he needs to be patient. They have a fight about how Steven washed his hands when he came in, but then he handled a bunch of stuff so Olga wants him to wash them again. He starts cursing, as he washes his hands. Steven interviews that when Olga tells him to do things, it can set him off, and his family has a history of anger problems. Yeah so the next step in being a fucking adult is working on them. “Now that I'm a dad, I don't want to be talked to the way I was growing up.” OK but it's fine for you to order your fiance around because she's not moving fast enough for your liking? Also how about “Now that I'm a dad, I don't want to treat my son the way I was treated”? He doesn't want to be in an unhealthy relationship. Only one person I see causing the unhealthiness here. He crosses his arms and says that she will not be an asshole to him. She tells him he's the asshole right now (attagirl) but doesn't kick him out of the room (aww). She does know she's not at fault. The baby fusses and he starts yelling for Olga to come feed the baby. You ordered her to get dressed and you were a dick, so suck it up.

Kalani and Asuelu get up in Utah. I guess they did make it to Utah before giving up and getting a hotel. Asuelu is still not speaking to Kalani, and I mean when she asks if he packed everything up he just keeps walking. Kalani says that since she apologized now it's on him to talk to her, which is true. I think she really overreacted, because he doesn't know any better, and she does speak to him like a child. But this is a really long time for him to sulk. Asuelu interviews that when he's mad and upset he doesn't want to talk, he just wants to think. As they drive she keeps looking at him in the rearview mirror. They drive for an hour. ONE HOUR. Come on. You could have done that last night. Kalani says she's not sure which house it is, and Asuelu finally speaks and says he thinks that's the right truck. Kalani doesn't make a big deal about his speaking to her, which is nice, but she also admits she knows he shuts down when mad so she just has to leave him alone. So she knew this would happen. But I guess we have to edit it like it's a thing. Somehow she sounds like she's giving him space and rolling her eyes about the space at the same time.

So this is her parents “retirement home”. Her parents do vacation there, but they don't live there full-time. It seems like a pretty standard two story new housing development house. You know what I mean. Asuelu is pretty impressed he's going to live in such a nice house, and it makes him proud to live in a rich person's house. I'd like to note that he's holding the baby facing away from him, with one arm around his chest and the other hand under the baby's bottom. I find this much more precarious/dangerous than taking the baby out of the car seat on the highway, but Kalani says nothing.

While Kalani's parents don't live in this house full time, her brother Nick does. And of course, Kalani hasn't really told him anything about Asuelu. According to her, all he knows is that Dad and Kolini don't like him. Are you surprised she didn't communicate with a family member to give them relevant info about her fiance so they don't hate Asuelu? Nick comes downstairs to say hi, and when Asuelu introduces himself Nick immediately says “What do you want me to call you, that's too long.” It's three syllables. I am side-eyeing him immediately. You don't tell people their name is too long the instant you meet them. Asuelu sort of shrugs that he can call him “Ace” or whatever, and Nick kind of laughs and says something about Americans and then finishes with “I'm kind of loud”. Demanding someone change their name because it's too long is not “being loud”. It's being a dick. You're not cute. Nick continues being a dick by saying he got a gift: a condom. Too fucking late, dumbass. Asuelu says he never used this before (OK, that was kind of funny) and Nick says he can tell. Kalani asks what his deal is, and Nick says that they already have one kid, so they should make sure they can take care of this one before they have another one. However he does say “we” and not “you”. Asuelu interviews that it's very rude in Samoa to talk about sex in front of others. Then he says only “slut people” use condoms and he isn't a slut. Sigh. No one is a slut for using condoms. I get that in a committed relationship, maybe you don't because you're monogamous, but maybe don't have a bunch of kids while the two of you are unemployed?

Nick takes off to work, as he says he takes responsibility for his sister, and claims he wants to get to know Asuelu. Well you might have fucked that up with your idiot greeting, but sure. In Nick's mind, Kalani and Asuelu don't know each other. That's fair. Nick also declares that Kalani doesn't need Asuelu. Kalani asks Asuelu what he thinks of her brother, and he says he's weird and he gave him a condom! I mean good point. Then Asuelu says they're not slut people, and Kalani laughs and says “slut people don't use condoms, smart people use condoms”. But she refuses to look at Asuelu and so what happened when they had sex in Samoa? I don't disagree with her but what's up with that? I know stuff happens and maybe she thought nothing would happen, or she had poor sex ed, or a million things. Asuelu's explanation is that they're engaged, so there's no need to have protection from diseases, plus he wants four kids. Kalani claims they agreed on two, maybe three. Asuelu has eight siblings, and he thinks they should have lots of kids. Kalani explains, in the “You're dumb so I'm speaking to you like a child” manner she gets, that they need to plan their family, and Oliver is only five months old. Asuelu is right about how she speaks to him. Kalani complains that Asuelu doesn't understand how expensive kids are in America. They are, for real.

52 days left for Jonathan and Fernanda. Fernanda says they've had fights before, but not like this last one. But she forgave him because he's the only person she has here. I mean you could go back home. I feel like she was bound and determined to believe what she thought had happened, instead of listening to Jonathan and believing him. She also thinks that Jonathan understands all the things she's given up for him. Jonathan says they've been working on communication, and he needs to tell her some things because he hasn't been totally honest. Fernanda knows people are looking at her in the gym, but she doesn't care. There's a lot of moaning. Jonathan is distracted. Calm down. They get some punching in, and Fernanda admits she's nervous about meeting his family.

We're reminded that Fernanda doesn't want to plan the wedding until she knows Jonathan's family is OK with it. He says his family is excited to meet her, but maybe his mom is not as excited as he's said. Jonathan's relationship with his mom isn't as good as it used to be. He was really close to his mom, but in the past year they've drifted, as he spent all his time off in Mexico and not visiting his family. Then he admits his mom found out about their engagement on social media because he's an idiot. Jonathan didn't want to consult his family before he proposed, because he knew they'd have issues and he didn't want to deal with it. Mom especially, I guess. So he thinks there will be some tension because of that. Fernanda can't believe he would do something major like propose and not talk to his mom at all. Actually she thinks he didn't tell his mom about her at all, like his mom didn't know she existed. He claims he did tell his mom about Fernanda, just that when he did, his mom thought he was going through a mid-life crisis and it was a big argument. Fernanda asks if he's ashamed of their relationship, and he says of course not. But if he told his mom, she would have said no, no engagement, so he didn't tell her. Fernanda is really worried about how to win his family over. Jonathan doesn't have any kind of explanation about why he waited to tell Fernanda all of this. All he can do is promise it will be fine. He's coming at this with the idea that if his family doesn't like her, it's not like they'll keep him from marrying her. But Fernanda wants to have some kind of family here in America, and I don't think she likes only having one person to depend on.

71 days left for Colt and Larissa. They're driving somewhere, and Colt says she looks beautiful. She says “thank you” and then “you look handsome” in the most lackluster way possible. They're going out somewhere, but he won't tell her where. It's a surprise. It's time to officially propose, he thinks. Sure. They're going to the Stratosphere, which is that thing that looks like the Space Needle. It's the tallest structure on the strip and “it's romantic”. I guess. We didn't go up there when we were in Vegas last month because we got drunk on the High Roller ferris wheel instead. Oh sorry it's “The Strat” now. When they arrive Larissa starts freaking out because she's afraid of heights. Oh great. Oh and then we find out in the elevator that Colt KNOWS Larissa is afraid of heights. She says if she had known this is where they were coming she wouldn't have come, and Colt's like “Well that's why I didn't tell you”. You asshole. This isn't a fun surprise. You decided to come here knowing she'd freak out. You don't get to decide that she needs to “face her phobia” or any bullshit like that. He claims he loves her too much. You fucking liar. He promises that even though she's not happy, she will be when she sees the view. They sit down near a railing (I guess there's a bar up there or something) and at least she's not right up next to the window.

Larissa tells him that if a lady says she doesn't like to go to high places, you have to respect that. THANK YOU. I'm taking Larissa's side this time. Colt claims he understands that, but look at the view! You don't understand shit. He says she doesn't have to look out there, she can just look at him. He has the best view, looking at her. OK so you could have done this on the ground then. Larissa, in a solo interview over by the bar, says maybe Colt thought she was kidding about the heights, but he knew about it. She thinks he's acting crazy to bring her there. He doesn't really apologize, but he says he's sorry she doesn't like it. They agree to walk around, because that's better. Larissa claims to be better about the heights, which, I wouldn't admit that even if it was true. Because of course now he thinks it's just fine. Colt interviews that things aren't going well, but he has to “take the chance”. Ugh, just do it already. So Colt says he has a present for her, and then we cut to commercial.

After commercials Larissa shrieks and practically grabs the ring out of Colt's hand. Man, TLC, get your previews in order. Quit cutting them to show the exact opposite of what's going to happen. Because this preview had his getting down on one knee and her saying “Oh no, Colt”. Not even close. But I thought since she said she'd rather have a car than a wedding, maybe she didn't want a big ring? But of course, Larissa is the happiest she has been this whole season. I mean all the smiles and love and everything. Except that now that I know you're fucking with the previews, I wonder if you cut everything to make her look worse than she is. Of course after I think this, Larissa interviews that now that she has a ring, she expects Colt to take her side when his mom is bothering her. Yeah it's much harder to edit words into her mouth.

Colt thinks his mom will be happy he's engaged to Larissa. This is stupid because he already WAS engaged to Larissa. He's been engaged this whole time. You had your mom hide the ring for you, idiot. Then he says that even if she doesn't like Larissa, her son's getting married so she should be happy about that. Or she hates Larissa so much she thinks you would be better off single. I mean that's an option. They go home and wake her up so they can tell her they're engaged and then show her the ring. That she's already seen. This is stupid. Larissa feels Mom is worried because “now it's real”. Sure. Mom is worried Colt's spent a lot of money on Larissa, but there's still some time before they actually get married.

58 days for Jay and Ashley. Jay doesn't feel like he fits in here and he misses Jamaica. Ashley's at work a lot, so he's going to go get a haircut. One of Ashley's friends gave him the name of a barbershop, and he goes over there and meets possibly the first black people he's met in America. There's immediately just guys hanging out and Jay is much more at ease. He says he does want to make white friends, but he feels more comfortable around black people. The guys chat him up and let him know he'll probably continue to be stared at and worse. Because that's how those people are. Jay tells the guys he's getting married next month, because that's how it's going. They can't believe he's only 20. He “thinks” he's ready, but they tell him he has to know. Marriage is important. “You ready to give up your player card? And you only 20.” They keep on giving him shit, in a good-natured way. Jay interviews that he loves Ashley, and if there's a part of him that regrets this, it hasn't kicked in yet. Jay tells the guys that if he could just come to the US and live with her, without getting married, then he wouldn't be getting married. But the process demands he get married. See, the preview cut that so he said “If I could come to the US without getting married, I wouldn't be getting married” and that's it. Not exactly what he said. The guys tell him he's wasting prime years of his life, and then one of the other barbers starts getting a million messages on his phone, and he's all “Bruh don't get married I am telling you” and they all laugh. It's like 8 texts that all say “I love you” over and over. Heh. The barbers don't think it's a good idea for Jay to get married, just because marriage is important, and 90 days is such a short time.

Leida's parents and sister and her all sit around and wait for Eric to arrive so they can yell at him about the apartment. Apparently the condition and small size of the apartment has made everyone decide that Eric can't provide for Leida and her son. I mean, he can't keep her at the level she had in Indonesia. But I am guessing it is not expensive to live in a 12,000 person city in Wisconsin. Also Leida knows her family won't let her stay in America if they don't like Eric or how Eric lives, but she still took them to see the apartment. I don't agree with hiding it from them, but I'm not sure why Leida did it, if she's afraid they'll make her go home. She claims her family is willing to listen. Eric is not happy that Leida is disappointed, but he also feels betrayed that he wasn't there when they all went over.

Now that everyone is sitting around the table, Reina starts by saying that yes, it's messy, but also it's “not really appropriate” for a family of four. Fair. But Tasha's supposed to be leaving. Eric tells them that, but he also says that Alless should stay in the same bedroom as Leida and Eric. Suddenly Leida says that whether they like the place or not, she has to accept it. So she hated the apartment so much she refused to sleep there, and then she took her parents over for what? To confirm she wasn't out of line to hate it? But now she's against them suggesting it sucks? This makes no sense. Eric knows that either they have to move, or Tasha needs to move. Reina thinks they need to live somewhere “safe” for a child. That apartment is perfectly safe. Eric is pissed because it is safe and he doesn't want to go into debt just to make things look good. Leida's dad asks what he's going to do about a temporary place for the family. Leida leads Eric and says they're working on it, right? Eric agrees. Yeah I don't think any of that is actually happening right this second. Tasha hasn't found a place to move to. Leida shrugs and says that she has a couple of days off, so she can pack then. Reina asks where exactly Tasha is going to go, and Leida responds that Tasha can figure it out by herself. Yeah that's going to go over well. Eric is still claiming that Tasha left all the mess (and Tasha has said that's not true) but now he's saying he doesn't think she did it on purpose. Leida's dad asks why Tasha can't live with them, and says Leida can be a good stepmom. Leida doesn't care because she's “triggered” by the mess. She won't live “with that person”. Reina thinks she just has “habits” and they need to talk to her about it. Wait so now they all want them to live together? It makes zero sense but fine. This episode is almost over. Both Reina and Dad tell Leida not to push people away, and then Dad offers Eric money so he can rent a better place. Maybe a couple of months rent or so. Eric is too proud to take any money, which is not surprising. He didn't bring Leida here to take her family's money, and it's “weakness” apparently so he's not taking it. I mean I think we all saw that coming. Eric says that he loves Leida very much, and he's going to take care of everyone. They're going to take care of Tasha, but not kick her out. Thank you for the offer, but he can afford rent. Reina suddenly says that they want Leida and Alless to go back to Indonesia. It's a better solution. I think they are maybe including Eric in that? I'm not sure. Leida tells her family the situation is not what they expected, but the three of them are together so they're going to make it work. She's not going back. I can't figure out Leida's opinion on anything or what she's trying to do. She interviews that she has no choice but to trust Eric and believe in what he tells her, like if he says he's getting a new house. I still don't know why she took her family to the apartment but too late now. Plus they seemed to be trying to make things work, and giving Leida advice about getting along, and then all of a sudden it was “you can't stay here”.

I mean I can tell you what the previews say but we've had several examples of how they're extremely misleading. Ashley and Jay fight. Colt and Larissa fight. Asuelu puts his son on his shoulders and everyone acts like he dangled the baby off a balcony. Leida appears to kick Tasha out of the house with zero warning. Steven is still being a dick. Fernanda meets Jonathan's mom.
