TAR 28 Recap Leg 6, 4-1-16

Welcome to Leg 6! Last time, on Running in the Snow in France Is Totally Doable, 8 teams visited the French Alps, and promptly freaked out. Team Rooster Teeth chose to build tents instead of climbing a mountain and failed miserably, while Brodie’s inability to run in the snow allowed Tyler and Korey to take first place. Erin and Joslyn, who also could not run in the snow, were eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next?

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

Clue: Fly to Yerevan, Armenia! Once there, make your way to the Yerevan Opera Theater to get your next clue.

So teams make their way to a travel agent. Teams arrive in the following order:

The teams get themselves on the first flight to Yerevan, which departs at 11 am, which is more than enough time for everyone to get on the same flight. And teams arrive at Geneva Airport to catch their flight in the following order:

1- Tyler/Korey

2- Brodie/Kurt

3- Dana/Matt

4- Scott/Blair

5- Zach/Rachel

6- Burnie/Ashley

7- Sheri/Cole

Teams are now on the Amazing Blue Line from Geneva to Athens and on to Yerevan! Teams arrive at Zvartnots International Airport in the following order:

1- Zach/Rachel

2- Scott/Blair

3- Tyler/Korey

4- Sheri/Cole

5- Brodie/Kurt

6- Burnie/Ashley

7- Dana/Matt

Everyone grabs taxis and ends up at the Opera Theater in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Zach/Rachel

3- Scott/Blair

4- Burnie/Ashley

5- Sheri/Cole

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Dana/Matt

Teams are now instructed to pick up their tickets at the box office, and that the winner of the leg will get the Express Pass, to be used before the end of Leg 9. (Toyouke: “Isn't it kind of late in the race to introduce the Express Pass?”) Team members now work their way to the Box Office. But when they get there, the hours of operation stop them until 8 am.

So, teams sleep, come back, and get their tickets in the following order:

Teams are now allowed in the theater to search for their clue, which they must ask the janitor for, but are not told that in advance. (Toyouke: “What a waste of the performance.”) Teams enter the theater in the following order:

1- Dana/Matt

2- Tyler/Korey

3- Sheri/Cole

4- Brodie/Kurt

5- Burnie/Ashley

6- Scott/Blair

7- Zach/Rachel

(Toyouke: “HA. They should have suspected the random worker. Also great job on being sly enough that no one noticed.“) Teams search the theater seats, backstage, the performers (once the show has ended) and then SOMEONE bothers to ask the janitor for help. And they get clues from him in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Burnie/Ashley

3- Sheri/Cole

4- Dana/Matt

5- Zach/Rachel

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Scott/Blair

Teams are now instructed to travel by foot and find the Yerevan Cascade, a 572 step monument, and climb to the top to get their next clue. Teams arrive at the Cascade in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Sheri/Cole

3- Dana/Matt

4- Burnie/Ashley

5- Zach/Rachel

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Scott/Blair

Teams then travel to the top and get their clue in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Sheri/Cole

3- Dana/Matt

4- Burnie/Ashley

5- Zach/Rachel

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Scott/Blair

And teams get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Thread OR Bread

*Thread: Teams travel to Megerian Carpet Factory and go to the rug room to complete a row of 200 stitches in exact form. Once the foreman approved, teams would get their next clue.

*Bread: Teams travel to Parvana Bakery and roll out the dough to make fifteen perfect lavash bread pieces. Once they had been cooked properly, and the judge approved them, teams would get their next clue.

4- Dana/Matt choose Thread

5- Scott/Blair choose Thread

Much bread making and rug sewing ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Sheri/Cole

3- Burnie/Ashley

4- Zach/Rachel

5- Tyler/Korey

6- Scott/Blair

7- Dana/Matt

Teams are instructed to make their way to Republic Square and find the number 13 bus. Once on the bus, they must ride it one stop past Hatsavan, and search for their clue. Teams arrive in Republic Square in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Sheri/Cole

3- Burnie/Ashley

4- Zach/Rachel

5- Dana/Matt

6- Scott/Blair

7- Tyler/Korey

Teams get on their buses and hang out with the locals. The buses pass Hatsavan, and let the teams off at Mount Ararat, where teams get their clue in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Sheri/Cole

3- Burnie/Ashley

4- Zach/Rachel

5- Dana/Matt

6- Scott/Blair

7- Tyler/Korey

And teams get the sixth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who’s feeling drained?

In this roadblock, one team member choose a Lada VAZ-2101 Taxi with a driver and change the oil following a set of instructions. Once the oil was correctly changed, teams get their clue from the driver, who could then take them to their next destination. Only two cars could be serviced at a time.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Kurt
2- Sheri – who can’t seem to get the filter off, and then manages to tighten it once she has the right tool.

3- Burnie

4- Zach

5- Matt

6- Scott

7- Tyler – who starts helping other teams just so he can get his car on the blocks.

After much oil changing, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Brodie/Kurt

2- Burnie/Ashley

3- Zach/Rachel

4- Dana/Matt

5- Scott/Blair – (Toyouke: “BLAIR why are you admitting to people you are so dumb you couldn't even figure out your gas cap.”)

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Sheri/Cole

Teams find now that they must have their taxi take them to the Temple of Garni, the PIT STOP of the sixth leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!

1- Brodie/Kurt – who win the Express Pass, which must be used by the end of Leg 9.

2- Burnie/Ashley

3- Zach/Rachel

4- Dana/Matt

5- Scott/Blair

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Sheri/Cole

And Sheri and Cole are the last to arrive. But this is the second of the three predetermined non-elimination legs, and they are still in the race. In fact, they are still racing, and Phil hands them their next clue. Sheri: “This is why blondes don’t change oil.”
