TAR 28 Recap Leg 11, 5-8-16

Welcome to Leg 11! Last time, on I Hope It Doesn’t Cock-a-Doodle Doo Doo On Me!, 5 teams continued to race through Bali. The detour dealt with chickens and coconuts, and when given the chance, Tyler and Korey U-Turned Brodie and Kurt, protected by Burnie and Ashley. As a result, Tyler and Korey win their fourth leg (since Brodie has to do the Roadblock) and Brodie and Kurt were eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

Clue: Fly 2000 miles to Shenzhen, China! Once there, find your next clue in the Departure Hall of Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport.

7:51 AM Sheri/Cole (4th)

So teams all head to a travel agent to book their flights. Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Burnie/Ashley

2- Tyler/Korey

3- Dana/Matt

4- Sheri/Cole

Burnie and Ashley find a flight that leaves at 1:45 am, and it has plenty of seats. So, everyone books the flight and heads to Ngurah Rai International Airport and arrives in the following order:

1- Burnie/Ashley

2- Tyler/Korey

3- Dana/Matt

4- Sheri/Cole

So the Amazing Blue Line takes us to Shenzhen, and teams leave customs in the following order:

1- Burnie/Ashley

2- Tyler/Korey

3- Dana/Matt

4- Sheri/Cole

Teams now make their way to the Departure Hall to get their clues, and get their clues in the following order:

1- Tyler/Korey

2- Dana/Matt

3- Burnie/Ashley

4- Sheri/Cole

Since Tyler and Korey and the Dancers get their clues first, they play dumb with the other teams while they exchange money. In the meantime, Rooster Teeth get their clue, and don’t pick up what Tyler is putting down in order to mislead Sheri and Cole. Ugh. (Toyouke: "I love that Sheri and Cole aren't even that mad about it though.") ANYWAY, teams are now instructed to travel by bus to catch the train to find the Eiffel Tower, which is at the Window of the World Theme Park. Teams arrive at Airport East station to catch their bus in the following order:

Bus 1

1) Tyler/Korey

2) Dana/Matt

Bus 2

1) Burnie/Ashley

2) Sheri/Cole

Teams arrive at Hourui Station to catch the Shenzhen subway to Window of the World. Teams catch their trains in the following order:

Train 1

1) Tyler/Korey

2) Dana/Matt

Train 2

1) Burnie/Ashley

Train 3

1) Sheri/Cole

Teams detrain at the Window of the World Station and make their way into the theme park. They arrive in the following order:

1- Tyler/Korey

2- Dana/Matt

3- Burnie/Ashley

4- Sheri/Cole

And teams get the twelfth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to see the world?

In this roadblock, one team member must pick up a special passport with clues about six world landmarks and decipher them to find stickers of each of the six landmarks (Coliseum, Great Pyramids of Giza, Notre Dame Cathedral, Merlion Statue, Vatican City and Taj Mahal). Once the stickers are collected, they return to the customs officer to get their passport stamped. Once all six locations are approved, teams get their next clue.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Tyler
2- Dana – who works with Tyler to get all the monuments.

3- Burnie – “Hey, Tyler, did you get the clue from the airport yet?” - yelled as he runs by to go somewhere else. Hee.

4- Sheri

After much landmark searching, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Burnie/Ashley

2- Tyler/Korey

3- Dana/Matt

4- Sheri/Cole

Teams are now instructed to travel to Lychee Park and find the Moon Bridge to get their next clue. In order to get there, teams must take the subway, and get on trains in the following order:

Train 1

1) Burnie/Ashley

2) Tyler/Korey

3) Dana/Matt

Train 2

1) Sheri/Cole

Teams arrive at the park and get their clues in the following order:

1- Burnie/Ashley

2- Tyler/Korey

3- Dana/Matt

4- Sheri/Cole

And teams get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Commuter Cycle OR Master of Arts

For both Detours, teams make their way to Dafen Oil Painting Village.

*Commuter Cycle: Teams find the marked plaza, get into business suits and learn how to ride a motorized unicycle. Once the team learns how to ride, they are provided with a briefcase and coffee cup and must navigate traffic in order to get to the finish line. In transit, teammates will be stopped if they get too far apart. Once complete, teams are given the combination to the briefcase, which contains their next clue.

*Master of Arts: Teams find an artist with a marked paintbrush who takes them to a warehouse with a piece of artwork that must be transported to a specific address. Once there, teams must assemble the artwork correctly. Once approved, teams get their next clue from the gallery owner.

1- Tyler/Korey choose Master of Arts

2- Dana/Matt choose Master of Arts

3- Burnie/Ashley choose Commuter Cycle – but very quickly realize that they won’t be able to figure out how to balance themselves quickly enough, and Bald Snark to Master of Arts.

4- Sheri/Cole choose Commuter Cycle – but cleverly choose to stick with their choice twice, because they are the only ones at the Detour Option, so the other teams must be at Master of Arts, and thus if they switch, they will be farther behind. So, even though it starts raining, they stick it out.

Much unicycle riding and art hanging ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Tyler/Korey

2- Dana/Matt

3- Burnie/Ashley

4- Sheri/Cole

Teams are handed a scroll with a picture on it of the Shenzhen Civic Center, with the words “Shenzhen Library Terrace”, which is the actual PIT STOP of the eleventh leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!

1- Tyler/Korey – who go to the Civic Center first. And don’t get a prize from Phil.

2- Dana/Matt – who go to the Civic Center first.

3- Sheri/Cole – who go directly to the library, which is good, because. . .

4- Burnie/Ashley – who go to the Civic Center first. (Toyouke: "Did NOT expect that the editing was actually close and not a fake-out.")

And Burnie and Ashley are eliminated. Because that was a stupid move. #readtheclue
