TAR 27 Recap Leg 6, 10-30-15

Welcome to Leg 6! Last time, on No, Seriously, Read the Clue, 8 teams raced through Zimbabwe. The Express Pass went to Team Alabama, who had an amazing leg as a result. Texas and Team Proposal continued to battle it out as the fiercest competitors ever. Paparazzi can’t seem to figure out how to race, from following Chac Attack around and ending up in last place, to waiting in line at a Detour in which only one team gets to complete the task at a time. But the blue ribbon goes to the Track Stars Jazmine and Danielle, who continue to read clues wrong, and make a mistake that puts them at the back of the pack again and eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:
1st – Denise and James Earl, Team Token MomGaySon, #TeamAlabama
2nd – Justin and Diana, Team Race Proposal, #TheGreenTeam
3rd – Tanner and Josh, Team Prerequisite Hot Boys, #TeamTexas
4th – Kelsey and Joey, Team Newscast, #TheReporters
5th – Tiffany and Krista, Team Jet Pack, #TheCheerleaders
6th – Logan and Chris, Team Photobomb, #ThePaparazzi
7th – Cindy and Rick, Team Asian Doctor, #ChacAttack

Denise and James Earl take a minute to enthusiastically thank Tanner and Josh for the Express Pass. They say that they gave it to them because they are nice. I think they are secretly hoping to build up false confidence so that they eliminate themselves as quickly as possible.

Masuwe Private Game Reserve, Masuwe Safari Lodge, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

5:40 AM Denise/James Earl (1st)
5:50 AM Tanner/Josh (2nd)
6:00 AM Denise/James Earl (3rd)
Kelsey/Joey (4th)
Tiffany/Krista (5th)
Logan/Chris (6th)
Cindy/Rick (7th)

Clue: ROADBLOCK!

So teams get the fifth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to get their heart pumpin’?

In this roadblock, one team member must bungee jump from Victoria Falls Bridge 364 feet in the air. Once the roadblocker bungees and returns to the top, teams get their next clue. (Toyouke: "Also, blah blah product placement.")

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Denise
2- Diana
3- Tanner
4- Joey
5- Krista
6- Rick
7- Chris

After much bungee jumping, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Denise/James Earl
2- Justin/Diana
3- Tanner/Josh
4- Kelsey/Joey
5- Tiffany/Krista
6- Cindy/Rick
7- Logan/Chris

Teams are now instructed to fly to PARIS, FRANCE! Once there, teams must make their way by train to Aérodrome Musée Volant Solis to get their next clue. Teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana
2- Kelsey/Joey
3- Denise/James Earl
4- Logan/Chris
5- Tiffany/Krista
6- Cindy/Rick
7- Tanner/Josh

So the Amazing Red Line takes us from Zimbabwe to Paris, and teams arrive in Paris in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana
2- Cindy/Rick
3- Tiffany/Krista
4- Logan/Chris
5- Denise/James Earl
6- Kelsey/Joey
7- Tanner/Josh

Teams make their way to the train station and get on the train to the museum. Teams board the following trains:

Train 1
1) Justin/Diana

Train 2
1) Cindy/Rick
2) Tiffany/Krista
3) Logan/Chris
4) Denise/James Earl
5) Kelsey/Joey
6) Tanner/Josh

So teams travel south of Paris to the Museum and arrive in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana
2- Tanner/Josh
3- Tiffany/Krista
4- Logan/Chris
5- Denise/James Earl
6- Cindy/Rick
7- Kelsey/Joey

And teams get the envelope with the sixth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who’s feeling revolutionary?

In this roadblock, one team member must fly in a vintage Boeing PT-17 biplane over the French countryside to find the three words of the French motto, “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité”. Once on the ground, the roadblocker recites the motto to a pilot who, if correct, will give teams their next clue. The team member that did not complete the previous roadblock on the leg MUST complete this roadblock. If a roadblocker gets the answer wrong, they must return to the air to try again. Only three biplanes are available first come, first served.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Justin
2- Josh
3- Tiffany
4- Logan – who has the best pronunciation of the bunch, but misses the third word, and has to redo the task.
5- James Earl
6- Cindy
7- Kelsey

(Toyouke: "I don't even speak French and these pronunciations are horrible.")

After much flying in biplanes, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana
2- Tanner/Josh
3- Tiffany/Krista
4- Denise/James Earl
5- Cindy/Rick
6- Kelsey/Joey
7- Logan/Chris

Teams are instructed to take the train back to Paris and travel to Square Louise-Michel near Sacre-Coeur and find Le Fantôme Blanc, who will hand them their next clue. So, teams get on the following trains:

Train 1
1) Justin/Diana

Train 2
1) Tanner/Josh
2) Tiffany/Krista
3) Denise/James Earl
4) Cindy/Rick
5) Kelsey/Joey

Train 3
1) Logan/Chris – which leaves an hour after the second one. Oof.

Teams travel back to Paris and arrive at Sacre-Coeur and get their clues from Le Fantôme Blanc in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana
2- Tanner/Josh
3- Tiffany/Krista
4- Kelsey/Joey
5- Denise/James Earl
6- Cindy/Rick
7- Logan/Chris

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:
Drops Mic OR Busts a Crab
*Drops Mic: Teams must travel to Quai de la Tournelle. Once there, they meet rap artist Passi to perform one of his hits. Once teams match the pronunciation, rhythm and vibe of the original, Passi would give them their next clue. (Toyouke: "Watch how teams who could not pronounce the French motto think rapping in French is a great idea.")
*Busts a Crab: Teams must travel to La Coupole Restaurant and assemble their Royal Platter by cracking, shucking and splitting seafood. Once the platter is made exactly to the chef’s instructions, teams will receive their next clue.

1- Justin/Diana choose Drops Mic – after Justin pretty much bullies Diana into the choice because he wants to do it. But he totally lets her make decisions.
2- Tanner/Josh choose Busts a Crab
3- Kelsey/Joey choose Drops Mic
4- Tiffany/Krista choose Drops Mic – and rock it out. Finally, a task they are actually good at!
5- Cindy/Rick choose Busts a Crab – and are really good at it, because, you know, surgeon and dentist.
6- Denise/James Earl choose Drops Mic – only after getting lost and think they can find the location easier.
7- Logan/Chris choose Busts a Crab – who somehow manage to watch Tanner and Josh leave the location, giving them hope that maybe they still have a chance.

Much rapping and seafood cracking occurs. Team complete their tasks and get their clues in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana
2- Tiffany/Krista
3- Cindy/Rick
4- Kelsey/Joey
5- Tanner/Josh
6- Logan/Chris
7- Denise/James Earl

Teams are now handed a postcard and told to go there. The postcard is from a bridge with a view of the Eiffel Tower, which happens to be named Pont Alexandre III. So, teams head to the bridge and arrive in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana
2- Tiffany/Krista
3- Kelsey/Joey
4- Tanner/Josh
5- Cindy/Rick
6- Logan/Chris
7- Denise/James Earl

Teams find now that they must travel to the Pit Stop “across from the iconic monument where the first team will triumph”, which happens to be the Arc de Triomphe, the PIT STOP of the sixth leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

1- Justin/Diana – who win no prize. More on that shortly.
2- Tiffany/Krista
3- Kelsey/Joey
4- Tanner/Josh
5- Cindy/Rick
6- Logan/Chris
7- Denise/James Earl

And Denise and James Earl are. . . still working on the Detour. Justin and Diana are handed their next clue and told to begin the next leg immediately! So teams are off to catch the train to Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

ORDER NOW:
1st – Justin/Diana
2nd – Tiffany/Krista
3rd – Kelsey/Joey
4th – Tanner/Josh
5th – Cindy/Rick
6th – Logan/Chris
7th – Denise/James Earl

Next week: Rotterdam, which could be in any number of countries according to the teams. And there is tension. When is there NOT? Until next time!
