TAR26, Recap Leg 3, 3/6/15

Welcome to Leg 3! Last time, on One of These Days, YDCs Might Be Interesting, teams raced to Nagano, Japan.  Bergen and Kurt argued, while Rochelle hurt herself being pushed on ice in a chair.  The blind dating couples continued to excel, which led to the elimination of Libby and CJ, so they can go argue about not being married somewhere else.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

Teams make their way to their hotel for the night, and discuss the rooming situation.

Clue: Fly to Phuket, Thailand!  Once there, make your way to Patong Beach.

6:19 PM Harley/Jonathan (4th) – who got Date Night, which involved a Japanese Spa.  And it was fun.  And there were swimming mushrooms.

And then the chiron guy stops caring.  I thought we were done with this, TAR.

So teams make their way from Nagano to Tokyo and Narita Airport.  Teams arrive in the following order:

Teams arrive at Narita just after the counters close for the night.  So, instead of looking up flights on the internet, they wait for ticket counters to open.  (Toyouke: “Because they are stupid.”)  Once they open, teams get their flights to Phuket in the following order:

Flight 1, Air Asia, arrives 4:50 PM

2) Aly/Steve

4) Hayley/Blair

5) Mike/Rochelle

Flight 2, Philippine Air, arrives 9:10 PM

1) Laura/Tyler – who decide there can’t possibly be a flight earlier than this.

Flight 3, Cathay Pacific, arrives 11:59 PM

Flight 4, ANA, arrives 9:35 AM

Sadly, no Amazing Lines today.  Teams arrive in Phuket the following order:

Teams find taxis and make their way to Patong Beach.  Teams arrive and get their clue in the following order:

1- Matt/Ashley

5- Hayley/Blair

6- Jelani/Jenny

7- Laura/Tyler

8- Bergen/Kurt

9- Harley/Jonathan

Teams now have to search for their clue, which is on a cell phone on a selfie stick held by a man with a red and yellow hat, red and yellow armbands, and pretty much red and yellow everything.  Matt: “Where do we go?”  Ugh.  So, teams get their clue in the following order:

1- Matt/Ashley

2- Aly/Steve

3- Mike/Rochelle

4- Jeff/Jackie   

5- Hayley/Blair

6- Jelani/Jenny

7- Laura/Tyler

8- Bergen/Kurt

9- Harley/Jonathan

Teams find out they are spending the night at Patong Beach Bed and Breakfast hotel in one of five rooms, and have a specific time to pick up their clue from the front desk.  Teams are allowed to pick up their clues at the following times:

Group 1, 8:30 AM

1) Matt/Ashley

2) Aly/Steve

3) Mike/Rochelle

Group 2, 8:45 AM

1) Jeff/Jackie

2) Hayley/Blair

3) Jelani/Jenny

Group 3, 9:00 AM

1) Laura/Tyler

2) Bergen/Kurt

3) Harley/Jonathan – but aren’t actually there yet, because, flights. (Toyouke: "But good, because clearly we couldn't have one team 17 hours ahead of the last team.")

Teams finally get their clues in the following order:

1- Matt/Ashley

3- Mike/Rochelle

4- Jelani/Jenny   

5- Jeff/Jackie

6- Hayley/Blair

7- Bergen/Kurt

Teams are now instructed to travel to Baan Teelanka, the Upside Down House.  Teams arrive and get their clue from the upside down toilet in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve
2- Mike/Rochelle

3- Matt/Ashley

4- Hayley/Blair

5- Jelani/Jenny

6- Jeff/Jackie

7- Bergen/Kurt

8- Laura/Tyler

9- Harley/Jonathan

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Ski OR Tree

*Ski: Teams must travel to Phuket Wave Park and water board around the pool for one lap each.  Once completed, teams receive their next clue.

*Tree: Teams travel to Flying Hanuman to deliver a full meal via zip line to two waiting couples.  Once the meal has been delivered successfully without spillage the couples give them their next clue.

1- Aly/Steve choose Ski – and after a large number of attempts, Bald Snark to Tree

2- Hayley/Blair choose Tree – and follow another team in not taking everything they need to to complete the challenge.  Hayley makes sure that Blair does not forget it for the rest of the episode. (Toyouke: "Shut up Hayley.")

3- Mike/Rochelle choose Tree

4- Matt/Ashley choose Tree

5- Jelani/Jenny choose Tree

6- Jeff/Jackie choose Ski – who Bald Snark to Tree.  Although Jackie was pretty good.

7- Bergen/Kurt choose Tree

8- Laura/Tyler choose Tree

9- Harley/Jonathan choose Tree

After much water skiing and food delivering, teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Mike/Rochelle
2- Hayley/Blair

3- Laura/Tyler

4- Bergen/Kurt

5- Jelani/Jenny  

6- Aly/Steve

7- Matt/Ashley

8- Jeff/Jackie

9- Harley/Jonathan

Teams are now instructed to travel to My Way Cabaret back at Patong Beach.  The teams arrive in the following order:

1- Mike/Rochelle
2- Hayley/Blair

3- Laura/Tyler

4- Bergen/Kurt – who pulled the clue that had the Date Night invitation.

5- Jelani/Jenny  

6- Aly/Steve

7- Matt/Ashley

8- Jeff/Jackie

9- Harley/Jonathan

Teams are now instructed to dress in showgirl outfits, put on make up, learn a drag show and perform.  Once the judge approve the performance, teams will get the next clue.  Teams complete the challenge in the following order:

1- Mike/Rochelle
2- Hayley/Blair

3- Jelani/Jenny

4- Matt/Ashley – and Matt then proceeds to leave his Amazing Fanny Pack at the Detour.

5- Aly/Steve  

6- Laura/Tyler

7- Bergen/Kurt

8- Jeff/Jackie

9- Harley/Jonathan

Teams find now that they must travel to the Baba Nest Rooftop Bar, the PIT STOP of the third leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

1- Mike/Rochelle – who win a trip for two Prague, Czech Republic, to take cooking classes and a boat tour.

2- Hayley/Blair

3- Jelani/Jenny  

4- Laura/Tyler

5- Aly/Steve

6- Matt/Ashley – and Matt is so grateful, so he pulls out the ring he has and proposes.

7- Bergen/Kurt – and Kurt turns around and gifts Date Night to Matt and Ashley.  And then Bergen starts crying about not finding true love.

8- Jeff/Jackie   

9- Harley/Jonathan

And Harley and Jonathan arrive last.  But this is the first of three non-elimination legs, and they are still in the race.  They will have to complete a Speed Bump on the next leg.
