TAR23, Recap Leg 6, 11/3/13

Welcome to Leg 6! Last time, on I’d Wear a Seashell on my Crotch, teams raced from Norway to Poland.  Marie hands off the extra Express Pass to Nicole and Travis, and then use their own to skip the Detour task.  In the end, two teams got U-Turned, and Brandon and Adam got burned by a Bald Snark and were eliminated.  Who will be eliminated. . . next?

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

Clue: Take the train 640 miles to Vienna Austria!  Once there, travel to the Vienna State Opera House and find Rigoletto to take you to the Costume Department to get your next clue.

(Toyouke: “You know a train trip that is going to be that long is going to involve bunching. So don't get so excited.”)

Teams travel to the train station in the following order:

The teams get on two different trains leaving Gdansk, but because of when the train leaves Warsaw for Vienna, all teams end up on the same train leaving Warsaw.  Ooh, bunching!  And Leo and Jamal try to convince other teams that they did not turn Brandon and Adam.  (Toyouke: “Who cares if you U-Turned people? Why does it matter if they know that? Now you look stupid for lying.”)  Teams arrive in Vienna in the following order:

2- Tim/Danny
3- Ally/Ashley   

4- Nicole/Travis 

5- Nicky/Kim

6- Leo/Jamal

7- Tim/Marie

Teams make their way to the opera house and arrive in following order:

1- Jason/Amy
2- Tim/Danny
3- Nicole/Travis   

4- Nicky/Kim 

5- Leo/Jamal

6- Tim/Marie

7- Ally/Ashley

Teams find Rigoletto simultaneously and get a tour of the Opera House.  They make it to the costume room and get their clues in following order:

1- Leo/Jamal
2- Ally/Ashley
3- Nicole/Travis   

4- Tim/Marie 

5- Jason/Amy

6- Nicky/Kim

7- Tim/Danny

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:
Light Brigade OR Masquerade

*Light Brigade: Teams must reconstruct a chandelier on the first try, or it will be dropped and destroyed.  If it is correct, teams will receive their next clue.
*Masquerade: Teams travel to the Theatre Museum and join the masquerade ball wearing masks.  They must then find the couple that has the same masks they do, and the judge will give them their next clue..

When Nicole and Travis open their clue, they find . . . a Fast Forward!

FAST FORWARD:

Recall (if you can, since they show up rarely anymore) that a fast forward is a task that can be performed to allow one team to skip all remaining tasks and head directly to the pit stop.  However, each team may only use their fast forward power once on the race, so they must decide when it is more advantageous to use it.  In this, the first (?) fast forward on this race, teams must travel to the Donauturm and perform a 500 foot bungee jump.  Once complete, they get their next clue and skip all remaining tasks and travel directly to the Pit Stop.  However, the Fast Forward is weather dependant.

Teams decide to go for the Fast Forward in the following order:

1- Jason/Amy – who feel they need to be first.  (Toyouke: “You don't NEED the Fast Forward to come in first. You NEED it when you're in last. But whatever.”)

So – bungee jumping. . . that will occur when the wind dies down.  Jason and Amy wait for a little bit, and then decide that it’s not work the wait.  (Toyouke: “I knew it. There were too many references to the "weather dependent" part of the Fast Forward for it not to matter.”)  So they go back with the pack and head towards the Detour.

3- Tim/Marie choose Masquerade

4- Nicole/Travis choose Masquerade

5- Ally/Ashley choose Masquerade

6- Tim/Danny choose Masquerade

7- Jason/Amy choose Masquerade

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Tim/Marie  
2- Nicky/Kim
3- Leo/Jamal 

4- Ally/Ashley 

5- Tim/Danny

6- Nicole/Travis

7- Jason/Amy

Teams are now instructed to travel to Wiener Sängerknaben to get their next clue.  The teams arrive in the following order:

1- Leo/Jamal
2- Ally/Ashley
3- Nicky/Kim 

4- Tim/Danny 

5- Nicole/Travis

6- Tim/Marie

7- Jason/Amy

And once they arrive, teams get the seventh roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who’s a choir boy at heart?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must join the Vienna Boys Choir and sing Franz Schubert’s “Die Forelle.”  Once the choir director feels that they have mastered the song to his satisfaction, he will give them their next clue.

(Toyouke: “We would totally fight over this challenge.”  Kmanpat: “Yes, we probably would.  You pick up pitches faster, but I learn pieces more swiftly.”)

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

After much singing, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Nicole/Travis

4- Tim/Marie – who take Jason and Amy’s cab, when they find their stuff outside of it.  (Toyouke: “I hope Marie goes out in a karmic blaze of glory. Actually, no, I hope she makes it all the way to the finale and gets a bad cab driver.”)

5- Jason/Amy

6- Ally/Ashley

7- Tim/Danny – (Toyouke: “See. He's still off-key but once there is only one team left, I think they just say "screw it" and let them finish.”)

Teams are instructed to travel to Schönbrunn Palace and make their way to the hedge maze to get their next clue.  Teams arrive at the Palace in the following order:

1- Nicole/Travis
2- Nicky/Kim
3- Leo/Jamal   

4- Tim/Marie

5- Jason/Amy

6- Ally/Ashley

7- Tim/Danny

Teams get through the maze and get their clues in the following order:

1- Nicky/Kim
2- Nicole/Travis
3- Leo/Jamal   

4- Tim/Marie

5- Jason/Amy

6- Ally/Ashley

7- Tim/Danny

Teams find now that they must travel to The Gloriette at the center of Schönbrunn Palace and the PIT STOP of the sixth leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

1- Nicole/Travis – who win a trip for two to Anguilla.

2- Nicky/Kim
3- Leo/Jamal

4- Tim/Marie – who get death glares from . . .  

5- Jason/Amy

6- Ally/Ashley

7- Tim/Danny

And Tim and Danny are eliminated.  Tim is very happy about how far they got for never having left the United States before.
