Welcome back to Leg 3! Last time, on Let’s Have a Megaleg, Because Why Not?, 10 teams found themselves in Bologna, Italy. Claire couldn’t figure out tools, Linton and Sharik struggled with Anatomy, and Emily and Molly couldn’t get their car to go, but somehow made it into second place, while the motivational speakers and Glenda and Lumumba struggled to get out of the bottom. The leg continues, who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)
Ducati Factory, Bologna, Italy
Teams are busy installing wheels, brakes and body panels on a motorcycle. Teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:
1- Marcus/Michael
2- Emily/Molly – who are super excited to have gone from eighth to second.
3- Aubrey/David
4- Luis/Michelle
5- Linton/Sharik – Sharik reveals she hasn’t done a roadblock yet due to her anxiety. Uh oh.
6- Derek/Claire
7- Abby/Will
8- Quinton/Mattie
9- Rich/Dom – and Dom is basically insisting that Rich both drive and navigate. This won’t go over well. Dom: "Do you know where you're going right now?" (Toyouke: “Driver should not also be navigator??”)
10- Glenda/Lumumba – who we left last episode still trying to get their motorcycle together. (Toyouke: “Oh ok, in media res.”)
Teams are now instructed to drive themselves to Florence, Italy and find Villa Bardini to get their next clue and the next roadblock.
So teams make their to Villa Bardini. Teams arrive in the following order:
1- Marcus/Michael
2- Emily/Molly
3- Luis/Michelle
4- Linton/Sharik
5- Abby/Will
6- Quinton/Mattie
7- Aubrey/David
8- Derek/Claire
9- Glenda/Lumumba
10- Rich/Dom
When they rip open the clue, teams get the fourth roadblock.
ROADBLOCK:
Who wants a chiseled body?
In this roadblock, one team member must use the provided tools to chisel out a sculpture hidden in a plaster block. If they damage the encased sculpture, they must repair it before it is approved by the sculptor. Once approved, teams get their next clue.
The following teammates take the Roadblock:
1- Marcus
2- Molly – (Toyouke: “See? She's right, there's no way they'd make them make a real sculpture.”)
3- Michelle
4- Sharik – who was very nervous about the Roadblock. Linton: “"It's good Sharik is doing this, she's calm.” (Toyouke: “Such a dad comment.”)
5- Abby
6- Mattie
7- Aubrey
8- Derek
9- Lumumba
10- Dom - who immediately decides she can’t do the Roadblock and wants to take the penalty. (Toyouke: “How did the motivational speaker immediately give up? How is that your job?”) And then Dom meditates for her. (Toyouke: “Why is that so funny?”)
After much chiseling, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:
1- Emily/Molly
2- Marcus/Michael
3- Aubrey/David
4- Luis/Michelle
5- Abby/Will
6- Quinton/Mattie
7- Derek/Claire
8- Linton/Sharik
9- Glenda/Lumumba
10- Rich/Dom
Teams open their clues and we get the third Detour Clue.
DETOUR:
Eye for Fashion OR Window of Opportunity
*Eye for Fashion: Teams travel on foot to find three fashion shoots in the Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Signoria. In each piazza, teams memorize the clothing on each model, then travel to the Arno River to complete a portfolio with the correct outfits and locations of each. Once correct, the fashion designer will give them their next clue.
*Window of Opportunity: Teams travel on foot to find three Wine Windows and pick up Italian delights at each one. At Osteria Bella Donne, teams get Tuscan soup; at Il Latini, teams pick up cured meat, and at Vivoli Gelato, teams pick up a bag of biscotti. Once complete, teams take the items to the Arno River, where a dining couple will give them their next clue.
1- Marcus/Michael choose Eye for Fashion
2- Emily/Molly choose Eye for Fashion
3- Abby/Will choose Window of Opportunity
4- Aubrey/David choose Eye for Fashion
5- Luis/Michelle choose Window of Opportunity
6- Quinton/Mattie choose Window of Opportunity
7- Derek/Claire choose Window of Opportunity
8- Glenda/Lumumba choose Window of Opportunity
9- Rich/Dom choose Eye for Fashion
10- Linton/Sharik choose Window of Opportunity – after getting lost, and Sharik basically shutting down.
(Toyouke: “Interesting that the Detours both end at the same spot.”) Much fashion memorizing and food pick-up ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:
1- Emily/Molly
2- Marcus/Michael
3- Abby/Will
4- Quinton/Mattie
5- Luis/Michelle
6- Aubrey/David
7- Derek/Claire
8- Glenda/Lumumba
9- Linton/Sharik - who are revealed to deliver their food by the Amazing Editors as Rich/Dom are trying to finish their Detour
10- Rich/Dom
Teams are now instructed to race on foot to Piazza Ognissanti, the PIT STOP of the third leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!
1- Emily/Molly – who win Expedia Reward Points for a 5 day trip to Sydney/Australia. (Toyouke: “Why didn't they win the actual trip? Why is the prize "reward points"?”)
2- Marcus/Michael
3- Abby/Will
4- Luis/Michelle
5- Quinton/Mattie
6- Aubrey/David
7- Derek/Claire
8- Glenda/Lumumba
9- Linton/Sharik – and Sharik is annoyed that they aren’t eliminated, but decides to stick it out for her father. (Toyouke: “I'm shocked that on the mat she's still reluctant.”)

And Rich and Dom are eliminated. Dom is thankful for Rich, and Rich is happy to get to celebrate their third anniversary together on the Amazing Race.
