Welcome to Leg 8! Last time, on How the Almaty Have Fallen, 7 teams raced to Almaty, Kazakhstan. At the Detour, Leo and Alana struggled to identify what spears were, and then Kaylynn and Haley were coerced by members of the Mine Five Alliance (specifically Will and James and Riley and Maddison) to use the Yield against them. In the end, Will and James finished first, and their rivals Leo and Alana were last and were eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

Phil reminds us that this will be the first ever Mega Leg, with double everything. (Toyouke: “OK, Phil, I argue this isn't the first ever "Megaleg". Every "Keep Racing" leg is a megaleg, you just never called it that.” Kmanpat: “According to my records, our last Mega Leg was in TAR 14, back when they were called “Keep Racing Legs.”)

10:50 PM Hung/Chee (3rd) – who reminds us that they have helped DeAngelo and Gary in the alliance, but they don’t help others, so Hung and Chee aren’t going to help them any more.

So teams make their way to Almaty International Airport so that they can fly to Hyerabad. Since everyone is on the same flight, the Amazing Orange Line takes us directly to Hyderabad where teams arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in the following order:

3- Eswar/Aparna
4- Will/James
5- Kaylynn/Haley
6- DeAngelo/Gary
Teams now take taxis to Multi Cuisine Restaurant and arrive in the following order:
1- Eswar/Aparna

4- Kaylynn/Haley
5- Riley/Maddison
6- Hung/Chee
Teams are now instructed to choose a van in order to run a smog test on three auto rickshaws that teams had to flag down. Once teams complete the three smog tests, they receive their next clue. (Toyouke: “I feel like someone didn't think this task through. Why would an auto rickshaw driver waste time getting a smog check? I assume they have the paperwork in order already, don't they? Then doing this is just wasted time when they could be finding a fare and making money.”) Teams finish the task in the following order:

Teams open their envelopes and we get the fifth Detour Clue.
DETOUR:
Food App OR Number Trap
*Food App: Teams travel to The Patina and pick up a cell phone and food carriers from the Swiggy kiosk. Then, teams pick up three Swiggy food orders from a nearby restaurant and deliver them to the correct addresses as instructed to them by a phone operator, and get the signed receipt from each recipient. Once teams return to the kiosk with their signed receipts, the representative gives them their next clue.
*Number Trap: Teams travel to the T-Hub and participate in a motion sensor game to collect 0’s and 1’s for a binary code. Then, teams must decipher the code, which reads, “You can find the clue in the fourth floor bunker.” Once teams go up the fourth floor bunker, they receive their next clue.
1- DeAngelo/Gary choose Number Trap
2- Eswar/Aparna choose Number Trap
3- Will/James choose Number Trap
4- Hung/Chee choose Number Trap – and after twelve tries, bald snark to Food App.

Much code breaking and food delivering ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

Teams are now instructed to travel by taxi to the Qutb Shahi Tombs and find the Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah Mausoleum to get their next clue.
CAUTION: YIELD AHEAD! HAVE YOUR HOURGLASS READY! ONLY ONE MORE CHANCE TO USE IT!
Teams arrive at the Mausoleum Yield in the following order:
1- Will/James
2- DeAngelo/Gary
3- Eswar/Aparna
4- Riley/Maddison
5- Hung/Chee
6- Kaylynn/Haley
This is the sixth Yield of the race. Teams may choose to yield any team they wish (well, the team has to be behind them), but they may only use the Yield once during the race. If a team is yielded, they must turn over the hourglass that the Yielders found on Leg 2 and wait for the predetermined amount of time (10 or 20 minutes) based on the hourglass.
Teams make their Yield decisions in the following order:
1- Will/James (20) choose to Yield Kaylynn/Haley – (Toyouke: “It just occurred to me that you're using a Yield in the middle of a megaleg and you KNOW it's a megaleg and there's a whole Detour and Roadblock still. At least. What a damn waste.”)
2- DeAngelo/Gary (20) cannot use the Yield
3- Eswar/Aparna (10) cannot use the Yield
4- Riley/Maddison (20) cannot use the Yield
5- Hung/Chee (10) cannot use the Yield
6- Kaylynn/Haley cannot use the Yield and are Yielded for 20 minutes
Teams get their next clue in the following order:

When they rip open the clue, teams get the seventh roadblock.
ROADBLOCK:
Who’s ready to flip their lids?
In this roadblock, one team member must use an augmented reality feature on a tablet to find images of three computer generated men in turbans standing in front of the tomb's columns. Once the roadblocker identifies a turban, they then go to the roof and find the matching man in turban and place them above the correct column of the tomb to receive a scroll. Once roadblockers place three of the men correctly, they turn in their three scrolls for their next clue.
(Toyouke: “This Roadblock seems hard? Not the masquerade thing but the "put them over the corresponding pillar below" thing.”) The following teammates take the Roadblock:

4- Riley
5- Chee
6- Kaylynn – (Toyouke: “I feel like the blondes are actually having an easier time because she knows which pillars have people.”)
After much turban hunting, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

6- Kaylynn/Haley
Teams are now instructed to travel by auto rickshaw to the Charminar and search the area for their next clue. Teams find the clue box and get their clue in the following order:

2- DeAngelo/Gary
3- Will/James
4- Hung/Chee
5- Eswar/Aparna
6- Kaylynn/Haley
Teams open their envelopes and we get the sixth Detour Clue.
DETOUR:
This OR That
*This: Teams travel to Laad Bazaar and find a cart of bangles which they push to a store. Once there, teams choose a bride and must find a set of seven bangles that matches the ones she has on her arm. Once the bangles and order are correct, the shopkeeper gives them their next clue.
*That: Teams travel to Iqbal Dental Clinic and perform a series of tasks. First, they make a dental impression of a patient's teeth using provided materials. Then, they polish a set of dentures and install them on a patient. Once complete the dentist gives them their next clue.
(Toyouke: “I thought we were done with the "This or That" garbage.”)

4- Hung/Chee choose This – and once they find out what This is, bald snark to That. (Toyouke: “I didn't realize that the Detour envelopes had both options in them? I don't know if I want them to have to travel to the other location before they find out but I guess it's not that bad.” Kmanpat: “They usually don’t? So that’s a new thing.”)
5- Eswar/Aparna choose That
6- Kaylynn/Haley choose That – (Toyouke: “That is a grown man and you are saying how he's a "good boy". If the genders were reversed you'd be livid.”)
Much bangle searching and denture making ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:
1- Riley/Maddison
2- DeAngelo/Gary
3- Will/James
4- Eswar/Aparna
5- Hung/Chee
6- Kaylynn/Haley
Teams are now instructed to travel by auto rickshaw to Taj Falaknuma Palace and search the grounds for their next clue. Teams arrive at the palace in the following order:
1- Riley/Maddison
2- DeAngelo/Gary
3- Will/James
4- Eswar/Aparna
5- Hung/Chee
6- Kaylynn/Haley
Teams are now instructed to change into sherwani outfits and travel by horse and buggy with a pair of socialites to the inner courtyard of the palace to get their next clue.

Teams arrive at the Palace Yield in the following order:
1- Riley/Maddison

Who wants to get things straight?
In this roadblock, one team member must choose a place setting based on a piece of artwork and set ten places at the palace’s long banquet table perfectly. Once completed, the proctor will give them their next clue.
The following teammates take the Roadblock:

6- Haley
(Toyouke: “Did they say whoever didn't do the first Roadblock has to do this one?” Kmanpat: “They did not.” Toyouke: “I feel like you should make your choice based on which napkin fold is the easiest.”) After much place setting, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:
1- Riley/Maddison
2- Will/James
3- DeAngelo/Gary
4- Hung/Chee
5- Eswar/Aparna
6- Kaylynn/Haley
Teams are now instructed to make their way to the southeast garden of Taj Falaknuma Palace, the PIT STOP of the eighth leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!
1- Riley/Maddison – who win a trip for two from Travelocity to the Caribbean. And it’s a seven day cruise.

And Kaylynn and Haley are the last team to arrive. And they have been finally eliminated from the race, and it is revealed to them that they are the last team not in the Mine Five Alliance to be eliminated. Haley: “Mine Five? They were named?” Took them long enough.
