to Leg 5! Last time, on Be
Careful, Sailing Can Knock Your Tooth Out!,
9 teams raced from Morocco to France. Teams ended up in
Saint-Tropez, and went sailing where Evan chipped a tooth, and Cedric
and Shawn had a Speed Bump that put them behind. Another Head to
Head put teams against each other, where Brittany and Lucas pulled
off a win over Cedric and Shawn, pétanquing them out of the race.

Drive yourselves 120 miles to Les Baux-de-Provence, France! Once
there, make your way to Chateau des Baux, last used as the Pit Stop
for Leg 3 in TAR 1. Once there, teams will get their next clue.

Lucas reminds us he was frustrated with Brittany in Leg 4 but he
still loves her. Brittany reminds us that they have been together
for 9 years, and she still needs a ring.

teams make their way to Chateau des Baux. Teams arrive in the

Once
there, teams run into Hours of Operation, as the Chateau doesn’t
open until 8:30 am. Thus, all the teams show up. When the gates
open, teams enter and get their clue in the following order:

When
they rip open the clue, teams get the fifth roadblock.
ROADBLOCK:
Who
wants to go medieval on this Roadblock?
In
this roadblock, one team member must use the provided materials and
example to build a working trebuchet. Once approved, teams will get
their next clue. While the trebuchet is being built, the other team
member must be placed in the stockade until the task is done.
(Toyouke:
“But will
it fire watermelons?”)
The

Teams
are now instructed to drive themselves to Maussane-les-Alpilles and
find the Café de la Fontaine and get their clue from the patron
drinking red wine. Teams arrive at the café and get their clue in
the following order:

Teams
open their clues, and we get the Detour Clue.
DETOUR:
Full
of Bull OR Colorful
For
both detours, teams must drive themselves to the city of Arles.
*Full
of Bull: Teams must find the Arles Amphitheatre, and run through the
bullring checking 100 bull statues for red, white and blue ribbons.
Once teams had one of each color of ribbon, they show them to a
bullfighter to get their next clue.
*Colorful:
Teams travel to Pont Van Gogh, and solve a sliding puzzle of his
famous painting Langlois Bridge at Arles. Once teams solved the
puzzle, the painting would open to reveal the next clue.
(Toyouke:
“I would
never pick a Swedish Roulette task ever. EVER.”)

worst nightmare.”)

Trevor/Chris choose Full of Bull
– who actually got lost trying to get to Colorful, so they shoes to
go back to the other Detour.
Much
stadium running and puzzle solving ensues. So, teams complete the
detour in the following order:

Teams
find now that they must drive themselves back to Les Baux-de-Provence
and find the Hotel Benvengudo, the PIT STOP of the fifth leg of this
racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

trip for 2 to Bali. And so Lucas proposes. (Toyouke: “Those
two girls knew what was up IMMEDIATELY. Also did he actually
ever propose?”)
2-
Kristi/Jen – (Toyouke: “Wait
so does this mean that the two teams who suffered the most during the
head-to-head, having to do it multiple times, BOTH went worst to
first on the next leg? Either magically that experience motivates
everyone to win, OR the stupid head-to-head has absolutely nothing to
do with actual Race skills and is BS.”)
