Top Chef 2/20/13--"Finale Part 1" summary

Previously on “Top Chef”: The final three cooked for some dogsledders. Josh made breakfast again, but lost out to Brooke. The Elimination challenge was to make a dish that represented the moment they knew they wanted to be a chef. Brooke briefly freaked out because she’s wanted to be a chef for her entire life, but then she made chicken and quail and impressed everyone and won this challenge. Sheldon made his broth too salty, which almost doomed him, but then Josh tried to make a three-day dish in four hours and it failed. So Josh was sent home. (click for more)

TAR22, Recap Leg 1, 2/17/13

Welcome to Leg 1! We’re back to TAR after a hiatus, and it couldn’t come soon enough.  This time, we are traveling through Los Angeles.  For goodness sake, I know that LAX is a hub, but can we PLEASE start in a different city?  We only get to see the United States twice a season, since we (thankfully) do not do Family Edition anymore.  This time, teams are running up to the Griffith Observatory.  (Toyouke: " Oo, OBSERVATORY. You know what? I think that observatory is the one the Paula Abdul video for "Rush Rush". The one with Keanu in it.")  The eleven teams are: (click for more)

TAR22, Recap Leg 0, 2/10/13

Welcome back to the Amazing Race!  Miss me?  I thought so.  First off, we have some excellent countries on the list, including visits to French Polynesia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Botswana and Switzerland!  We’re at eleven teams, so no monkey business from the producers.  The Two million dollar twist is out of the mix, and there's a new twist with the Express Pass. . . or should I say TWO Express Passes?  And Toyouke is nearby to throw in her two cents. (Toyouke: “Do I have to?  These teams so ineffectual.  Meh.”)  The eleven teams are: (click for more)

Project Runway 2/14/13--"The Ulitmate Hard and Soft" summary

Previously on Project Runway: everyone designs for Heidi. Various people act like this doesn’t happen every single season. It’s for her perfume launch, so some people are making outfits for the ad campaign and some are making outfits for some PR event. Layana tried to throw Kate under the bus, and it’s kind of shady, but since Team KIR cannot lose, of course Kate is one of the winners. Patricia made a weird leather lattice outfit, which was interesting, but seriously there was no way Heidi was wearing it. So magically Daniel was the other winner, even though there was supposed to be one ad campaign winner and one PR event winner. Ben completely failed and was pretty close to sending his model out with no top, but Cindy made a fairly standard dress in the wrong fabric so it looked terrible. So she didn't make it. Top Chef 2/13/13--"Glacial Gourmand" summary

Previously on “Top Chef”: The final four made crab, and then salmon and sourdough. The crab thing was interesting, and Sheldon won because he made “miso” soup with the innards. The salmon and sourdough was for a salmon bake, which is like a fish fry or a community BBQ thing. Sheldon didn’t do so well in that, because he put green tea and chives in his bread and it was weird. Brooke won, because dill in sourdough is good. Lizzie lost, even though she made the best bread, because she made little sandwiches and there was too much bread. So your final three are Sheldon, Josh, and Brooke. (click for more)

Project Runway 2/7/13--"Surprise Me" summary

Previously on Project Runway: The teams remain the same. Everyone must make outfits for a ping pong social club. I know. There was some drama, but not any that was really interesting. Layana won, for making a skort, because we are to believe Susan Sarandon has never seen a skort before. James made weird wide legged crop pants. For a man. So he went home. (click for more)

Top Chef 2/6/13--"Kings of Alaska" summary

Previously on “Top Chef”: the remaining chefs went on a cruise. They were supposed to make “appetizer” bites using iceberg lettuce. Sheldon won, and was given an advantage on the Elimination Challenge. This challenge was to make surf and turf, but to update it. He got first pick, and then picked filet mignon and lobster tail, which is…kind of not updated. Brooke won with frog legs and mussels. Although Sheldon was not inspired by the proteins he picked out, Stefan finally went home. (click for more)
