Welcome to Leg 2! Last time, on That Aquabus Looks Familiar, 13 teams started Amazing Race 39 in Vancouver, Canada. Every team was issued an Express Pass, and the Newlyweds Erin and Javi became the first to use theirs. Dating couple Daisha and Dalton and brothers Zach and Nate did not, and ended up in a race to the finish line, which Zach and Nate lost and were eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next? And because the TAR producers didn’t bother to talk to me AGAIN, we don’t get start times for the other teams.

Teams now book their flights to Madrid and all manage to get on the same flight through Paris that lands in Madrid at 11:20. (Toyouke: “Everyone booked the same flight? Boring.”) So teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

Because everyone is on the same flight to Madrid, there’s very little airport scheming, but the Best-ters, the Boss Ladies, the Celesbians and Jody/Jenn manage to form a women’s team alliance. Woo. (Toyouke: “There is not strength in numbers on this show. Also "I'm not like other women who backstab" is so obnoxious.”)
So, once the dust settles, teams arrive at Madrid-Barajas Airport and arrive in the following order:

After they get their tickets (Toyouke: “Who knew being able to use the ticket machine would be so important?”), teams now take the Madrid Metro to Plaza de Toros el Batàn, where teams arrive in the following order:

When teams arrive at the plaza, teams come to the second roadblock.
ROADBLOCK:
Who’s
feeling saucy?
In
this roadblock, a Switchback to TAR10, teams must participate in La
Tomatina, searching through a pile of tomatoes for a clue while being
pelted by tomatoes by the locals. Once teams find a clue, they may
proceed to the next location, the Puerta del Sol.
(Toyouke: “Swedish Roulette already?”) The following team members complete the Roadblock.

Teams are now instructed to travel to the Puerta del Sol (not Puerta del Sur, which is very different). Teams board their trains in the following order:
Train 1
1) Erin/Javi – who decide that Puerta del Sur is perfectly acceptable for Puerta del Sol and get on the train in the wrong direction, but realize it within a few stops.

1) Katie/Charlotte – who also decide that Puerta del Sur is an acceptable translation for Puerta del Sol, and take the metro to the end of the line to get there, only realizing when they get of the train at Puerta del Sur that it is not, in fact, Puerta del Sol. Katie: "Are you sure this is right?" Charlotte: "No." (Toyouke: “I hope they got on the wrong train again.”)
So, teams make their way to Puerta del Sol and find the clue box in the following order:

DETOUR:
Slice of Ham OR Slice of History
*Slice of Ham: Teams make their way on foot to Extrem Puro Extremadura to pick up a jamón ibérico. Teams then transport their ham to Perro Paco Restaurant, where one team member must slice 50 grams of ham while the other puts together a charcuterie board to match the display. Once finished correctly, Emilio, the ham curator, will give them their next clue.
*Slice of History: Teams make their way on foot to Museo del Prado and explore the courtyard for 12 historical impersonators, who would give a fact about themselves, but not their names. Team must then correctly arrange a board with the impersonators portraits above the correct names. If correct the museum curator will give them their next clue.
(Toyouke: “Both of these Detour options are complicated for no reason.”)

2- Dafina/Saran choose Slice of History – (Toyouke: “Out of all these people, Dali is the easiest to identify. You don't even have to talk to him. Come on.”)
3- Michelle/Matt [EP] choose Slice of History
4- Anuar/Andrea [EP] choose Slice of Ham
5- Ann-Marie/Riley [EP] choose Slice of Ham – who decide to follow the other teams, since they are the middle of the pack. (Toyouke: “How quickly we went from "boss babes" to "latch onto whoever is here"”)
6- Daisha/Dalton choose Slice of Ham
7- Erin/Javi choose Slice of Ham
8- Cody/Jaime [EP] choose Slice of Ham – but manage to get lost and show up after Benson Boone and Logan Paul, and rather than wait for a table, they choose to use their Express Pass. (Toyouke: “Why would you wait to use the Express Pass until you got a table? You should have done it while you were waiting. Also other teams are allowed to ask if you can use it. So calm down.”
9- Doug/Dylan choose Slice of Ham – but get so horribly lost in Madrid that they luck out that one of the six tables has opened up for them by the time they arrive.
10- Conner/Garrett [EP] choose Slice of Ham
11- Jody/Jenn [EP] choose Slice of History – and even thought Jody is a history teacher, they only see Dafina and Saran, and think they are done with the task, so they panic and use the Express Pass. (Toyouke: “That was dumb, because history teacher, but at least it gives us the info that "one Express Pass per task" means "each side of the Detour counts separately"”)
12- Katie/Charlotte [EP] choose Slice of History – who check to see if the Express Pass has been used (it had) before they start.
Much charcuterie preparation and historical figure identification ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:
