TAR25, Recap Leg 11, 12/12/14

Welcome to Leg 11! Last time, on Our Oxen Are Definitely Still Broken, teams journeyed from Singapore to Manila, where somehow the Wrestlers took the lead, and Jim’s amazing attention to detail slowed down the Dentists once again.  A switchback caused a slowdown to all the teams, but it was the Wrestlers who ended up in last, but were not eliminated.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

1st – Misti/Jim, Team Noodle Domination, #The Dentists

2nd – Amy/Maya, Team Frizzle Twins, #SweetScientists

3rd – Adam/Bethany, Team Sharknado, #SoulSurfers

4th – Brooke/Robbie, Team LoriBolo2, #TheWrestlers

9:01 AM Misti/Jim (1st)

Clue: Take a jeepney to Rajah Sulayman Park.  You have $1 for this leg of the race.

9:02 AM Amy/Maya (2nd)

9:05 AM Adam/Bethany (3rd)

9:07 AM Brooke/Robbie (4th)

Apparently, jeepneys only operate in one direction at a time, meaning if you board in the wrong direction, you could be in for a ride.  Teams get jeepneys in the following order:

1- Misti/Jim

2- Amy/Maya

3- Adam/Bethany

4- Brooke/Robbie

Thing is, the Dentists and Scientists go the wrong way.  So teams arrive at Rajah Sulayman Park in the following order:

1- Adam/Bethany

2- Brooke/Robbie

3- Amy/Maya

4- Misti/Jim

And Brooke and Robbie find their Speed Bump.

SPEED BUMP:

A Speed Bump is a task that must be performed by the last place team on a non-elimination leg. Once they complete this task, they may return to the place where the Speed Bump occurred and continue the leg. In this speed bump, teams must go the Manila Baywalk and transfer the contents of a broken padyak to a working one.  Once complete, teams get their next clue.

Teams complete the Speed Bump in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie

After much padyak transferring, they continue with the rest of the teams in getting the detour clue.

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

This OR That

Teams pick their Detour blind, and then receive completion instructions at the Detour.

*This: Teams are instructed to travel to the intersection of Bocobo and Malvar Streets and play a two on two basketball game against a neighborhood team.  Once the team scores 21 points, the referee gives them their next clue.

*That: Teams are instructed to travel the intersection of Pedro Gil Street and Pilar Hidalgo Lim and race padyaks four laps around a marked course, each person steering for 2 laps.  If the teams complete in 17:55, the race director would give them their next clue.

(Toyouke: "I don't like this new blind Detour twist. But since this episode was so boring I fell asleep BOTH times I watched it, I guess it's OK.")

1- Adam/Bethany choose This

2- Brooke/Robbie choose This

3- Amy/Maya choose That

4- Misti/Jim choose That

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Adam/Bethany  
2- Brooke/Robbie

3- Amy/Maya  

4- Misti/Jim

Teams are now instructed to travel to Divisoria Market and find the marked jeepney.  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie

2- Misti/Jim

3- Adam/Bethany – who had lost their clue.

4- Amy/Maya

And teams get the eighth roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who goes cuckoo for coconuts?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must pick up bunot garlands and walis tingting brooms and carry the correct number to three different stalls, as posted on the clipboard on the jeepney.  Once all of the items are delivered and the receipts collected, teams get their next clue.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Robbie

2- Jim

3- Adam

4- Amy

(Toyouke: “Read your clue seems to be a theme this season.  I mean. . . its on the outside of the van even.”)  After much carrying and delivering, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Brooke/Robbie – (Toyouke: “How is ROBBIE the smart one?”)

2- Adam/Bethany

3- Misti/Jim 

4- Amy/Maya – where Amy is shaking due to dehydration.

Teams are now instructed to make their way to Fort San Diego, the PIT STOP of the eleventh leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

1- Brooke/Robbie – who win . . . nothing.  But are told by Phil that they are one of the final teams, and that the next leg starts NOW!  Phil hands them a clue that states, “Fly to your Final Destination City, the City of Angels,” and hands them a manila (hee) envelope that says “Property of the City of Los Angeles” with instructions not to open until told to do so.

4- Amy/Maya

Amy is still in shock from having no water, so Phil goes into dad mode, and informs them they are the last team to arrive. . . but they are part of the FINAL FOUR that will keep racing!

4th – Amy/Maya
