Welcome to Leg 2! Last time, on Why Are There So Many Teams This Season?, a record 13 teams started Amazing Race 35 in Los Angeles, California. We are told that there are no NELs, but airport drama is back! Teams made their way to Bangkok, Thailand, where Morgan and Lena ate bugs for the Express Pass, and Elizabeth and Iliana risked going home first to do the Massage Task in the Detour. The grocery store owners took first place, while the nerdy siblings couldn't learn choreography and were eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

The Amazing Red Line shows us the importance of traveling West out of the main city proper of Bangkok in order to get to the temple. This will be important.

8:44 AM Greg/John (3rd) – who navigate to Wat Suwannaram in Bangkok, only to learn that there are multiple Wat Suwannarams, and they want the one in Salaya. Oops.

8:55 AM Morgan/Lena (4th) – and we learn their Express Pass must be used by the end of Leg 4.

9:01 AM Todd/Ashlie (5th)

10:23 AM Steve/Anna Leigh (6th) – Anna Leigh says her dad is her best friend. Okay, sure.

10:28 AM Joel/Garrett (7th)

10:36 AM Liam/Yeremi (8th) – who navigate to Wat Suwannaram in Bangkok, only to learn that there are multiple Wat Suwannarams, and they want the one in Salaya. What’s with these all boy teams today?

So teams make their way to Wat Suwannaram. Teams arrive in the following order:

When they rip open the clue, teams get the second roadblock.

ROADBLOCK:

Who has a green thumb?

In this roadblock, one team member must travel by boat to a lotus farm and harvest 20 lotus flower bulbs and leaves to wrap them in from the lotus pond. Roadblockers must then create two bundles arranged in a 3-4-3 pattern and wrapped with leaves and bamboo ties. Once properly completed, the lotus farmer will give them their next clue, which can be opened when they reunite with their partner.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

(Toyouke: “Look, I guarantee Asian families pay for someone to create these bundles, so Jocelyn's guilt about how Victor's family will shame her is unfounded.  Also, this farmer is pickier than normal.”) After much lotus bundle making (many with 12 to 15 checks before getting it right), teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

Teams reunite, open the clues, and are now instructed to take a taxi to Rai Khing and find the Wat Rai Khing and make their way to the marked elephant to get their next clue. Teams arrive at the temple in the following order:

1- Jocelyn/Victor

2- Rob/Corey

3- Greg/John

4- Morgan/Lena

5- Steve/Anna Leigh

6- Todd/Ashlie

7- Joe/Ian

8- Joel/Garrett – who had left the roadblock, and Joel managed to take off his Amazing Fanny Pack and leave it there. So they had to turn around and get it.

10- Elizabeth/Iliana

11- Andrea/Malaina

12- Robbin/Chelsea

Teams are now instructed to place a coin in the elephant, walk under it three times and talk to the operator in order to get their next clue. Teams complete the task in the following order:

Teams open their clues and we get the second Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Stock Up OR Scoop Up

*Stock Up: Teams make their way by taxi to Don Wai Market and find the restaurant who gives each team a shopping list. Teams then make their way through the market with a pushcart and baskets purchasing the items, which are written out phonetically. Once all the items are purchased, teams return to the restaurant. If they are correct, the restaurant owner will give them their next clue.

*Scoop Up: Teams make their way by taxi to Ton Som O Farm 3 and navigate the canals by boat to load with pomelos. Once they have procured enough pomelos to fill 5 baskets, the pomelo farmer will give them their next clue.

1- Jocelyn/Victor choose Stock Up - (Toyouke: “I’m sorry, this option was made for them. They run an Asian market, and Victor basically speaks Thai.”)

2- Rob/Corey choose Scoop Up

3- Greg/John choose Scoop Up

4- Morgan/Lena choose Scoop Up

5- Todd/Ashlie choose Stock Up

6- Steve/Anna Leigh choose Scoop Up

7- Joe/Ian choose Scoop Up

8- Joel/Garrett choose Scoop Up

9- Liam/Yeremi choose Scoop Up

10- Andrea/Malaina choose Stock Up

11- Elizabeth/Iliana choose Stock Up – actually, they chose Scoop Up, but their cab driver followed the Philly Jawns, and they ended up there, so they decided to do the task. (Toyouke: "You know you're last, so you kind of have to.)

12- Robbin/Chelsea choose Scoop Up

Much shopping and pomelo harvesting ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

Teams are now instructed to take a taxi to Suan Sampran, the PIT STOP of the second leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!
