Welcome to Leg 8! Last time, on Let’s Have the Teams Do the Most Stereotypical Italian Things We Can Think Of, six teams continued racing through Italy in Venice. The Boys finally win a leg, while Liz struggles at the Roadblock, causing them to finish last. But it’s a non-elimination leg! Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

11:15 AM Matt/Redmond (1st)
Clue: Make your way to Patras, Greece! First, fly to Bari, Italy. Then catch the ferry to Patras to get your next clue. CAUTION: DOUBLE U-TURN AHEAD.
Matt is very happy with the way he and Redmond are getting along, dad jokes and all.
12:08 PM Becca/Floyd (2nd) – and Becca thinks they are in sync.
12:28 PM Tara/Joey (3rd)
1:01 PM Brooke/Scott (4th) – Brooke: “This team is made for running.” And Scott rolls his eyes.
1:02 PM London/Logan (5th)
1:11 PM Liz/Michael (6th)
So we get to Marco Polo International Airport only to find that everyone is on the same flight to Bari, which means everyone ends up on the same ferry to Greece. The Amazing Red Line transports us across the Adriatic Sea to Greece. Teams arrive in Patras in the following order:
1- Matt/Redmond
2- Brooke/Scott
3- London/Logan
4- Liz/Michael
5- Becca/Floyd
6- Tara/Joey
Teams find the marked cars as well as their next clue. Teams are now instructed to drive to the town of Arachova and find the wedding party being held in the town square. Teams drive themselves to Arachova and arrive in the following order:
1- Tara/Joey – who arrive and proceed to join in dancing with the wedding party.
2- Brooke/Scott
3- Matt/Redmond
4- London/Logan – who have some car trouble along the way, namely, the cars stops working in reverse.
5- Liz/Michael – who miss the turn to Arachova, even though they are originally with the first three teams, and argue for an hour over whether to turn around or keep going forward. They ultimately turn around.
6- Becca/Floyd – who miss the turn for the bridge that they were supposed to take and backtrack.
When they arrive, teams find the U-Turn.
This is a Double U-Turn. Teams may choose to U-turn any team they wish (well, the team has to be behind them), but they may only use the U-Turn once during the race. If a team is U-turned, they must go back to the Detour choices and complete the Detour that they did not complete. This U-Turn is doubled, meaning two teams may U-Turn two other teams. Phil, during his explanation, says this is the last U-Turn of the race. (Toyouke: "Good, because there have been too many U-Turns. AND they should be after the Detour.")
1- Brooke/Scott choose to U-Turn Liz/Michael
2- Tara/Joey have used their U-Turn and cannot U-Turn, but U-Turn Becca/Floyd anyway – I guess the rules have changed?
3- Matt/Redmond cannot U-Turn
4- London/Logan cannot U-Turn
5- Liz/Michael are U-Turned
6- Becca/Floyd are U-Turned
So Liz and Michael and Becca and Floyd have been U-Turned and now must complete both Detour options.
Teams leave the U-Turn and get their clues in the following order:
1- Brooke/Scott
2- Tara/Joey
3- Matt/Redmond
4- London/Logan
5- Liz/Michael
6- Becca/Floyd
And we get the Detour Clue.
DETOUR:
For the Bride OR For the Groom
*For the Bride: Teams explore the streets of Arachova with a donkey to transport two containers of milk from Kaplanis Taverna to cheese vendors at spots throughout the village. Once the milk is delivered and the cheese is collected, teams return the cheese to the bride to get their next clue.
*For the Groom: Teams race up the Egarsios Steps to the Church of Saint George and find a shepherd who will hand the team two goats. Teams then take the goats to the groom to get their next clue.
1- Tara/Joey choose For the Bride
2- Brooke/Scott choose For the Bride
3- Matt/Redmond choose For the Bride
4- London/Logan choose For the Bride
5- Liz/Michael choose For the Bride – and once they complete it, they must do For the Groom. However, they only take one goat back initially, so they have to return to the shepherd and get a second.
6- Becca/Floyd choose For the Bride – and after completing the task and naming their donkey Speedy McSpeederson (who gets his own chyron), they complete For the Groom.
Much wandering and carrying ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:
1- Tara/Joey
2- Matt/Redmond
3- Brooke/Scott
4- London/Logan
5- Liz/Michael
6- Becca/Floyd
Teams are now instructed to drive themselves to Athens, Greece and find the Panathenaic Stadium to get their next clue. Teams drive and arrive in the following order:
1- Tara/Joey
2- Matt/Redmond
3- Brooke/Scott
4- London/Logan
5- Becca/Floyd
6- Liz/Michael
Teams open their clues, and Liz and Michael find their Speed Bump.
SPEED BUMP:
A Speed Bump is a task that must be performed by the last place team on a non-elimination leg when the non-elimination leg is not immediately followed by the next leg. Once they complete this task, they may return to the place where the Speed Bump occurred and continue the leg. In this speed bump, the team must travel to the nearby Kantina Food Truck and make kokoretsi, a traditional dish made of meat skewers and intestines. Once complete, teams may continue the race from where they left off.
Teams complete the Speed Bump in the following order:
1- Liz/Michael
After much kokoretsi making, they continue with the rest of the teams.
Teams are now instructed to run a lap around the stadium. Once complete, teams get their next clue, which they receive in the following order:
1- Tara/Joey
2- Matt/Redmond
3- Brooke/Scott
4- London/Logan
5- Becca/Floyd
6- Liz/Michael
Teams are now instructed to travel on foot to the Zappeion. Teams arrive in the following order:
1- Tara/Joey
2- Matt/Redmond
3- Brooke/Scott
4- London/Logan
5- Becca/Floyd
6- Liz/Michael
Once they arrive, teams get the seventh roadblock clue.
ROADBLOCK:
Who thinks they can step in time?
In this roadblock, one team member must learn the changing of the guard routine outside the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Once the team member has performed the sequence correctly, teams get their next clue.
The following teammates take the Roadblock:

3- Brooke
4- London
5- Becca
6- Liz
After much marching, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:
1- Tara/Joey
2- Brooke/Scott
3- Matt/Redmond
4- London/Logan
5- Becca/Floyd
6- Liz/Michael
Teams find now that they must travel to the Acropolis and find the Areopagus, the PIT STOP of the eighth leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!
1- Tara/Joey – who win $7500 each.
2- Matt/Redmond
3- Brooke/Scott
4- London/Logan – who have their highest placing all race.
5- Becca/Floyd
6- Liz/Michael
And Liz and Michael are the last to arrive. . . and are eliminated. Michael appreciates Liz and says they are like siblings.
