TAR26, Recap Leg 7, 4/17/15

Welcome to Leg 7! Last time, on Dressed Up With Nowhere to Go, teams raced through the tiny country of Monaco.  Somehow all the girls had to pick up flowers and candy for their men, and no one got to choose their own Detour because reasons.  All the teams seemed to be rushing to the Pit Stop simultaneously that ended in a surprise win for the ever dysfunctional Hayley and Blair, and an elimination for the only team that this stupid gimmick was actually working for, Jeff and Jackie.   Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:
1st – Hayley/Blair, Team Mismatched YDC, #RxForLove
2nd – Aly/Steve, Team Olympian YDC, #SochiLove
3rd – Mike/Rochelle, Team Smalltown Sweetheart YDC, #TruckStopLove
4th – Matt/Ashley, Team Best Friend YDC, #The Hairstylists
5th – Jelani/Jenny, Team Intelligent YDC, #TheLegalTeam
6th – Laura/Tyler, Team Clueless YDC, #TeamSoCal

Plage de Passable, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France

We learn that Laura and Tyler got Date Night again, which appears to be dinner for two in a beachside villa.  Tyler states that they are getting along.  Doesn’t seem like happy sparks to me.  (Toyouke: “I like how Tyler carefully avoided saying anything about romance while talking about date night.“)

12:35 AM Hayley/Blair (1st)
Clue: Fly to Windhoek, Namibia!  Once there, choose a pilot and take a bush plane flight to Erindi Private Game Reserve in Omaruru!

12:41 AM Aly/Steve (2nd)
12:45 AM Mike/Rochelle (3rd)
12:55 AM Matt/Ashley (4th)
12:56 AM Jelani/Jenny (5th)
12:58 AM Laura/Tyler (6th)

Teams head to the airport in Nice to catch their flights to Namibia.  Teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

1- Hayley/Blair
2- Aly/Steve
3- Mike/Rochelle
4- Matt/Ashley
5- Jelani/Jenny
6- Laura/Tyler

Teams inform us that there is only one flight to Windhoek, and they all get on it.  So teams fly south to Namibia, where teams arrive in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve
2- Jelani/Jenny
3- Matt/Ashley
4- Laura/Tyler
5- Mike/Rochelle
6- Hayley/Blair

Teams pick a pilot based on their arrivals, and just happen to pick them in numerical order.  So teams get in their Air Taxis and make their way to Omaruru.  They arrive on the Game Reserve airstrip and receive their next clue in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve
2- Jelani/Jenny
3- Matt/Ashley
4- Laura/Tyler – who pull the Date Night.  Again.
5- Mike/Rochelle
6- Hayley/Blair – and Hayley regales us with her infinite gushing about how cute their pilot, Hagen, is.  (Toyouke: “Shut up, Hayley. Also your pilot is not that hot. BLAIR IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU not that he would have anything to do with you.”)  SAVE BLAIR!

Teams are informed that they are to drive themselves to the San Bushmen Village and pick up a salt lick along the way.  Teams start driving and arrive at the salt lick pile in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve
2- Jelani/Jenny
3- Matt/Ashley
4- Hayley/Blair – who actually miss the pile on the first pass, so they leave the next task to go back, as do. . .
5- Laura/Tyler – who actually started the next task, went and got the salt lick, and then came back.
6- Mike/Rochelle – who somehow are still having issues with manual transmission cars, but it’s really that Mike doesn’t seem to know what a car key looks like.  (Toyouke: “Generally people who fail this much at driving stick are out after the first time they have to drive stick. But, Kurt and Bergen.”)

Teams get their salt licks and arrive at the San Bushmen Village in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve
2- Jelani/Jenny
3- Matt/Ashley
4- Laura/Tyler
5- Hayley/Blair
6- Mike/Rochelle

And teams get the fifth Roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who’s feeling grassy?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must use sticks and dried grass to help the San people build a traditional hut.  Once complete, the tribe members will give them their next clue.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Aly – who complained the whole time about having to complete the task.
2- Jelani
3- Matt
4- Tyler – who, as previously mentioned, stopped halfway through to return to the salt lick.
5- Blair – while Hayley plays with the kids.  (Toyouke: “Unshaven no-glasses Blair looks surprisingly like David Tennant.”)
6- Rochelle

After much digging and hut building, teams finish the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Laura/Tyler
2- Matt/Ashley
3- Jelani/Jenny
4- Aly/Steve
5- Hayley/Blair
6- Mike/Rochelle

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves to Ranger Headquarters, turn in their salt lick, and get their next clue from the head ranger.  (Toyouke: “So what was the point of getting a salt lick?”)  Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Laura/Tyler
2- Matt/Ashley
3- Jelani/Jenny
4- Aly/Steve
5- Hayley/Blair
6- Mike/Rochelle

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:
Track OR Pack
*Track: Teams use telemetric technology to locate an elephant on the preserve.  Teams guide their field guide and their jeep using the technology, and once an elephant is spotted, the field guide will hand them their next clue.
*Pack: Teams use a machete to cut up wildebeest meat.  Once a sufficient amount has been procured, teams board a jeep and travel to feed a pack of wild dogs.  Once complete, teams receive their next clue.

1- Laura/Tyler choose Pack
2- Matt/Ashley choose Pack
3- Jelani/Jenny choose Pack
4- Aly/Steve choose Track – but only because the ranger tells them that Pack is completely occupied.  (Toyouke: “Well, clearly the producers felt Pack was easier. Otherwise they wouldn't put a limit on it to force teams to do Track.”)
5- Hayley/Blair choose Track – but only because the ranger tells them that Pack is completely occupied.
6- Mike/Rochelle choose Pack – and are allowed to do it, because all the other teams from before have already left.

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Laura/Tyler
2- Matt/Ashley
3- Jelani/Jenny
4- Mike/Rochelle
5- Aly/Steve
6- Hayley/Blair

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves 215 kilometers to Spitzkoppe, the PIT STOP of the seventh leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive may be eliminated!

So, this is a long drive, so a number of things happen.  Aly and Steve get a flat tire, which makes life difficult.  (Toyouke: “Why is she so weird about fixing it? It's a flat. You change the tire and keep driving. It almost seems like she doesn't get the concept of changing tires.“)  And Laura and Tyler stop for directions, which throws off Matt for some reason.  (Toyouke: “What are you doing? Just go and don't worry about what other people are doing. OR, get some navigation skills of your own.”)

1- Matt/Ashley – and win $5000 each.
2- Laura/Tyler – who end up in second because Laura won’t rock climb.  Tyler: “She was looking for the escalator.”
3- Hayley/Blair
4- Jelani/Jenny
5- Mike/Rochelle
6- Aly/Steve

And Aly and Steve are the last team to arrive.  However, this is the second predetermined nonelimination leg and they are still in the race!  There will be a Speed Bump on the next leg for them to complete.

ORDER NOW:
1st – Matt/Ashley
2nd – Laura/Tyler
3rd – Hayley/Blair
4th – Jelani/Jenny
5th – Mike/Rochelle
6th – Aly/Steve

Next episode: More Namibia right now!  Until next time!
