TAR26, Recap Leg 6, 4/10/15

Welcome to Leg 6! Last time, on Let’s Wear Lederhosen For No Apparent Reason!, teams raced from Thailand to Munich, Germany.  Bergen and Kurt continue to fall apart, while other teams appear to be functional.  Well, except Hayley and Blair who need a prescription for new partners.  At any rate, it’s the Olympians who make their way to first and win 2 Ford Foci for their efforts, and Kurt’s ridiculous decision to continue forward without the provided car the led to his team’s elimination and breakup.  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

We would normally find out about the date night at this point, which apparently went to Mike and Rochelle.  However, the Amazing Editors have decided that the audience doesn’t really care about date night (took you long enough!) and instead turns its attention to the Ford Foci that the Olympians won.  Which I care even less about.

9:00 AM Aly/Steve (1st)

Clue: Fly to Nice, France.  Once there, find the Hotel Westminster and get measured for clothing for your helicopter ride to Monaco!

Teams head to the airport to catch their flights to Nice.  Teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve

2- Matt/Ashley

3- Jeff/Jackie  

4- Hayley/Blair 

5- Jelani/Jenny

6- Laura/Tyler

7- Mike/Rochelle

Teams then get the following flights:

Flight 1, arrives 5:05 PM

1) Aly/Steve

2) Mike/Rochelle – who originally booked an 8:45 PM flight, but wandered by the gate and were able to get standby tickets.  Yay for random happenstance!

Flight 2, arrives 5:55 PM

1) Jeff/Jackie

2) Hayley/Blair

3) Jelani/Jenny

4) Laura/Tyler

Flight 3, arrives 6:15 PM

1) Matt/Ashley – (Toyouke: “How did Matt and Ashley get screwed on flights?  All the good teams that I like/tolerate are getting screwed by the airlines.”)

So the Amazing Blue, Red, and Yellow lines takes us to Nice, where teams arrive in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve

2- Mike/Rochelle

3- Jelani/Jenny  

4- Laura/Tyler 

5- Hayley/Blair

6- Jeff/Jackie

7- Matt/Ashley

Teams now make their way to the Westminster Hotel for their fittings (Toyouke: “I love how we're pretending they're picking out clothes when you know everyone has assigned outfits.”) and arrive in the following order:  

1- Aly/Steve

2- Mike/Rochelle

3- Jelani/Jenny  

4- Laura/Tyler 

5- Hayley/Blair – (Toyouke: “Blair: still really hot”)

6- Jeff/Jackie – Jackie: “We’re passionate!”

7- Matt/Ashley

Teams mix and mingle and find out their clothes will be ready the next morning before their helicopter flights to Monaco.  (Toyouke: “What is with all the costumes? Why are you making everyone dress up all the time?”)  Each team gets their own helicopter and leaves in the order they arrived at the hotel.  So, the teams fly to Monaco in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve

2- Mike/Rochelle

3- Jelani/Jenny  

4- Laura/Tyler 

5- Hayley/Blair

6- Jeff/Jackie

7- Matt/Ashley

Teams get their next clue on the helipad when they land.  They pull their clue in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve

2- Mike/Rochelle

3- Jelani/Jenny  

4- Laura/Tyler 

5- Hayley/Blair

6- Jeff/Jackie

7- Matt/Ashley

And teams get the fourth Roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to treat their partner?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must pick up a box of chocolates from Chocolaterie de Monaco, and a bouquet of roses from a vendor in Saint Martin Gardens, both of which were favorites of Princess Grace Kelly.  Once both items are collected, roadblockers must meet their partner on the marked yacht in Port Hercules to get their next clue.

(Toyouke: “Oh yes, let's have a contrived Roadblock to go with our stupid gimmick season.”)

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

After much item collecting, teams finish the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve

2- Mike/Rochelle

3- Jelani/Jenny

7- Matt/Ashley

Teams are now instructed to travel by foot to the Casino de Monte Carlo to get their next clue.  (Toyouke: “Oh hello Phil in a tux.”)  They arrive in the following order:

1- Aly/Steve

2- Mike/Rochelle

3- Jelani/Jenny  

4- Laura/Tyler 

5- Hayley/Blair

6- Jeff/Jackie

7- Matt/Ashley

Teams go to a roulette table and play a round in order to get their next clue, which is determined by either red or black on the wheel.  And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Don’t Slack Off OR Win By A Nose

*Don’t Slack Off: Teams spin Red on the roulette wheel.  Teams then pick up a Ford Fiesta from the valet and drive themselves to La Turbie in Monaco and zip line 2000 feet above the city, then walk back to the start via tightrope to get their next clue.

*Win By a Nose: Teams spin Black on the roulette wheel.  Teams then pick up a Ford Fiesta from the valet and drive themselves to Èze, France and find Église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption d'Èze.  Once there, teams must recreate two perfumes using a recipe and provided scents, including 12 unknown scents that they must decipher using their noses.  Once the two scents match the originals, the expert will give them their next clue.

(Toyouke: “THIS IS TERRIBLE. It's not enough to have a stupid blind Detour but you can't even pick which one to try?!? AND you have to drive yourselves? What kind of shit is that? No one in Monaco who is balling is driving a damn FORD.”)

1- Mike/Rochelle choose Win By A Nose

2- Jelani/Jenny choose Don’t Slack Off

3- Matt/Ashley choose Don’t Slack Off

4- Laura/Tyler choose Win By A Nose – and decide while driving that they should have bougie names, so they pick their middle names.  (Toyouke: “Laura and Tyler are dorks, but "Magdalena" and "Hayes" ARE bougie names.”)

5- Hayley/Blair choose Win By A Nose

6- Aly/Steve choose Win By A Nose

7- Jeff/Jackie choose Don’t Slack Off

(Toyouke: “This Detour is terrible. Did they give you volumes? Because if not, terrible.  So that's why this is not only blind but you have no choice. Why would you ever mix perfume when you could just go ziplining?  Why don't you just make the Detour options more even? Instead of forcing people to get screwed by chance?“)  Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Jelani/Jenny

2- Matt/Ashley

3- Jeff/Jackie  

4- Aly/Steve 

5- Laura/Tyler  

6- Hayley/Blair

7- Mike/Rochelle

Teams are now instructed to drive themselves to Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and find Plage de Passable, the PIT STOP of the sixth leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive may be eliminated!

1- Hayley/Blair – and win a trip for two to South Africa.  (Toyouke: “Just what Blair wants, a trip with Hayley.”)

2- Aly/Steve  

3- Mike/Rochelle

4- Matt/Ashley

5- Jelani/Jenny

6- Laura/Tyler  – who apparently win the Date Night.

7- Jeff/Jackie – (Toyouke: “Boo, I like them. Plus the editing was terrible and I don't know how they fell so far when they got the better Detour.”)

And Jeff and Jackie are eliminated.  Jackie is convinced that Jeff will be in her life forever.  We’ll see Jackie. (Toyouke: "I'm rooting for them.")
