Welcome to Leg 10! Last time, on Maybe We Should Flip Over the Rocks and See If There Are Things on the Back, 5 teams raced to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Melissa struggles at the first Roadblock, causing the girls to be eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

Arrival at the pit stop last episode:

1st – Ricky and Cesar, Team Dating Dudes

2nd – Rod and Leticia, Team NFL Fitness

3rd – Juan and Shane, Team Top Gun

4th – Amber and Vinny, Team Dating Nurses

Anfiteatro de Puerto Plata, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Teams are transported by land and sea overnight to Sosúa, Dominican Republic, where they will run the next leg. They depart from the Pit Start in fifteen-minute increments.

Catamaran, Sosúa Beach, Sosúa, Dominican Republic

Clue: Welcome to Sosúa, Dominican Republic! Your next clue is attached to a buoy. Swim out to the buoy to retrieve your clue and then return to the beach.

First Departure 10:00 am

Ricky/Cesar (1st)

Rod/Leticia (2nd)

Second Departure 10:15 am

Juan/Shane (3rd)

Amber/Vinny (4th)

So teams jump off the catamaran and find the clues on the buoy in the following order:

1- Ricky/Cesar

2- Rod/Leticia

3- Juan/Shane

4- Amber/Vinny

Teams return to the beach to open their clues and we get the tenth Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Dive Trip OR Rum Sip

*Dive Trip: Teams find the dive instructor and assemble four dive rigs correctly. Once approved by the captain, teams load the rigs onto a boat and launch it to get their next clue.

*Rum Sip: Teams find Diversity Bar and get orders for drinks from six pirates. Using a recipe book, teams must make each drink correctly and get it approved by the bartender. Once six of the nine pirates have drinks, teams get their next clue.

(Toyouke: “Where can we sign up to be fake pirates and day drink?”) Teams arrive at their Detour option in the following order:

1- Rod/Leticia choose Rum Sip – (Toyouke: “So...you don't have to memorize the recipes, and you don't have to take all six orders at once? That's not hard?”)

2- Ricky/Cesar choose Rum Sip – and end up making 7 drinks.

3- Juan/Shane choose Rum Sip

4- Amber/Vinny choose Rum Sip – but struggle with getting the correct glassware for the Hurricane. (Toyouke: “How did you make it to the final four and you didn't think the style of glass was important.”)

Much bartending ensues, because no one wanted to assemble dive kits. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Ricky/Cesar

2- Rod/Leticia

3- Juan/Shane

4- Amber/Vinny

Teams are now instructed to travel by taxi to Cabarete Beach to get their next clue. Teams arrive in the following order:

1- Ricky/Cesar

2- Rod/Leticia

3- Juan/Shane

4- Amber/Vinny – (Toyouke: “Putting your toxic relationship in therapy-speak doesn't make it non-toxic. You still should break up. The whole mood of the couple shouldn't depend 100% on one person being positive. And FOR SURE you shouldn't phrase it as "If I don't make him happy then everything falls apart"”)

When they rip open the clue, teams get the twelfth roadblock.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to take a stand?

In this roadblock, one team member must choose an instructor and go windsurfing for 1 minute. At the end of a successful 60 seconds, the windsurfing owner will give them their next clue.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Leticia -who has to, as Rod has used all his Roadblocks. And gets hit in the head on her first try. (Toyouke: “Oh Leticia has got this. There's no way she'd let getting hit in the head stop her.”)

2- Ricky – who uses 21 attempts.

3- Juan

4- Vinny

After much windsurfing, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Rod/Leticia

2- Juan/Shane

3- Ricky/Cesar

4- Amber/Vinny

Teams are now instructed to Olympus Beach and find their next clue on the dune buggies. (Toyouke: “This whole thing feels rushed, but I do like this better than the half-assed "you got to this task last so you're out" thing they've been doing.”) Teams arrive at the dune buggies in the following order:

1- Rod/Leticia

2- Juan/Shane

3- Ricky/Cesar

4- Amber/Vinny

Teams are now instructed to drive their dune buggies to the water, where they will take a kayak to a nearby sandbar. Teams arrive at the kayaks in the following order:

1- Rod/Leticia

2- Juan/Shane

3- Ricky/Cesar

4- Amber/Vinny

Teams are now instructed to kayak to Wilson’s Bar, the PIT STOP of the tenth leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive WILL be eliminated!

1- Rod/Leticia – who win Expedia One Key cash for a 5 day trip for 2 to Rome, Italy.

2- Juan/Shane

3- Ricky/Cesar

4- Amber/Vinny – (Toyouke: “I'm so relieved you have no idea. Now I'm good with anyone winning.”)

And Amber and Vinny are eliminated. And then Vinny proposes marriage to Amber on the mat. (Toyouke: “NO DO NOT. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO this is the worst decision.”) Vinny: “This may be the end of the Amazing Race, but this isn’t the end of ours.”

ORDER NOW:

1st – Rod/Leticia

2nd – Juan/Shane

3rd – Ricky/Cesar

Next week: TAR36 Finale in Philadelphia! Much hanging out with mascots ensues! Until next time!
