TAR 31, Recap Leg 4, 5/8/19

Welcome to Leg 4! Last time, on Who Needs to Practice . . . It’s Karaoke!, 9 teams zipped their way to Vietnam. The Big Brother teams formed an alliance, and Leo and Jamal finally succumbed to the pressure and started to struggle. In the end it was Bret and Chris who finished last, but were not eliminated due to the non-elimination leg. Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more):

Teams make their way to Snowtown Saigon and arrive in the following order:

1- Becca/Floyd – who discover that the location opens at 6:30 am. So then everyone catches up. (Toyouke: “Stupid equalizer.”)

2- Nicole/Victor

3- Colin/Christie

4- Tyler/Korey

5- Corinne/Eliza – (Toyouke: “Is it weird that Corinne and Eliza look more familiar to me now than they did at the start of the race? As if I couldn't recognize them when they were clean and well-rested.”)

6- Janelle/Britney

7- Rachel/Elissa

8- Leo/Jamal

9- Chris/Bret

The venue opens and teams are instructed to sled down a ramp to the polar bear who will give them their next clue They visit / take out the polar bear in the following order:

1- Becca/Floyd

2- Chris/Bret

3- Nicole/Victor

4- Colin/Christie

5- Tyler/Korey

6- Corinne/Eliza

7- Janelle/Britney

8- Rachel/Elissa

9- Leo/Jamal

And while other teams are instructed to travel to College Transit Central to get their next clue, Chris and Bret find their Speed Bump.

SPEED BUMP:

A Speed Bump is a task that must be performed by the last place team on a non-elimination leg when the non-elimination leg is not immediately followed by the next leg. Once they complete this task, they may return to the place where the Speed Bump occurred and continue the leg. In this speed bump, the team must make snowballs and collect them in a cooler. Then they must transport them to College Transportation Central where they can then continue racing.

Teams complete the Speed Bump in the following order:

1- Chris/Bret

After much snowball making, they continue with the rest of the teams and get their clue. Teams arrive at College Transit Central (after much difficulty getting cabs) (Toyouke: “OK if we can't have airport drama at least we can still have bad taxis and taxi drama.”) in the following order:

1- Leo/Jamal

2- Rachel/Elissa

3- Nicole/Victor

4- Corinne/Eliza

5- Chris/Bret

6- Becca/Floyd

7- Colin/Christie

8- Janelle/Britney

9- Tyler/Korey

When they rip open the clue, teams get the fifth roadblock.

ROADBLOCK:

Who feels like driving yourself crazy?

In this roadblock, the roadblocker must learn how to ride a moped on a closed course involving a figure eight and a speed bump track. Once completed without error, teams get their next clue.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

After much moped riding, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

9- Corinne/Eliza

Teams are now instructed to make their way to Binh Quoi Village They arrive in the following order:

1- Leo/Jamal

2- Rachel/Elissa

3- Colin/Christie

4- Nicole/Victor

5- Becca/Floyd

6- Chris/Bret

7- Janelle/Britney

8- Tyler/Korey

9- Corinne/Eliza

Teams open their envelopes and we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:

Irritation OR Irrigation

(Kmanpat: “Actually, I saw one poster call this Paddle Wheel or Paddle Boats, which I also liked.”)

*Irritation: Teams must maneuver a Flo Boat through a canal while avoiding hot shot fishermen and transporting their boat over a bridge to pick up a basket of five fish. Once the basket is retrieved, teams take it back to the fishmonger to get their next clue.

*Irrigation: Teams must build a farmer’s irrigation wheel using the provided materials and fill up a jug to an indicated level. Once complete, teams get their next clue.

(Toyouke: “What's up Flo boats! I'm suspicious that the example water wheel is not next to the site where they're building. It makes me suspect they're trying to make that side of the Detour take longer.”)

1- Leo/Jamal choose Irrigation – and miss the fact that they have to fill a jug of water.

2- Rachel/Elissa choose Irrigation – because they are moms and build things. But they can’t. (Toyouke: “This is the time for a Bald Snark. The other option is right there, you don't have to travel, and you can see the other teams having an easier time.”)

3- Colin/Christie choose Irritation – and decide that they don’t need their basket with the fish.

4- Nicole/Victor choose Irritation

5- Becca/Floyd choose Irritation

6- Chris/Bret choose Irritation

7- Janelle/Britney choose Irritation

8- Tyler/Korey choose Irritation

9- Corinne/Eliza choose Irritation – and somehow decide they need to stand up in order to paddle.

Much wheel building and boat paddling ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Nicole/Victor

2- Colin/Christie – (Toyouke: “I didn't expect to be rooting for Colin and Christie when Colin isn't being a memelord, but here we are.”)

3- Leo/Jamal

4- Becca/Floyd

5- Chris/Bret

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Janelle/Britney

8- Rachel/Elissa

9- Corrine/Eliza

Teams get their clue and are instructed to make their way to Tam Vu Park and find Phil. That’s suspicious.

Teams arrive in Tam Vu Park in the following order:

1- Becca/Floyd – because other teams got hopelessly lost.

2- Colin/Christie

3- Nicole/Victor

4- Chris/Bret

5- Leo/Jamal

6- Tyler/Korey

7- Rachel/Elissa

8- Janelle/Britney

9- Corrine/Eliza

Teams arrive and find their first Head to Head!

HEAD-TO-HEAD

In this Head to Head, teams must play each other in a game of badminton. The winner moves on to the next task. The loser stays behind to compete until they win. Teams compete together in this head to head.

(Toyouke: “I hate having the Head-to-Head immediately before the Pit Stop. It should be in the middle of the leg like every other version of this show.”)

So, in a rare move, this head-to head wasn’t aired, so I’m putting this together from clues and statements from racers, so feel free to correct me in the comments.

Teams compete in the Head to Head in the following order:

1) Becca/Floyd VS Colin/Christie – My Ox Is Broken wins the match.

2) Becca/Floyd VS Nicole/Victor – BBEngaged wins the match.

3) Becca/Floyd VS Chris/Bret – Team Bromance wins the match.

4) Becca/Floyd VS Leo/Jamal – Team Fun wins, after four tries

5) Leo/Jamal VS Tyler/Korey – GayTube wins the match.

6) Leo/Jamal VS Rachel/Elissa – Afghanimals win after three tries.

7) Rachel/Elissa VS Janelle/Britney – BBMoms win the match.

8) Rachel/Elissa VS Corinne/Eliza

Teams are now instructed to run through Tam Vu Park and meet Phil at the mat, the PIT STOP of the fourth leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

1- Colin/Christie – who win a trip for two to the Dominican Republic.

2- Nicole/Victor

3- Chris/Bret

And Corinne and Eliza are the last team to be defeated and are eliminated. But their venom for The Reilly Sisters is strong. And they really break down after losing. (Toyouke: “I kind of felt like Rachel and Elissa should have been out based on their horrible Roadblock and not Bald Snarking, but Eliza failed pretty badly on the scooter. Also Eliza is being really petty. I get it, though. You know the cameramen were loitering to make sure to get all that.”)
