TAR 27 Recap Leg 12, 12-11-15

Welcome to Leg 12! Last time, on Instructions Are Really Just Suggestions Until You Receive Time Penalties, 4 teams raced from India to Hong Kong and Macau. Teams were fairly even until Justin and Diana made some major errors that put them behind. But as fate would have it, the Cheerleaders can’t seem to open their eyes underwater, and the Green Team survives nearly an hour’s worth of time penalties to make the final three, causing the elimination of Tiffany and Krista. This leaves us with three teams: Justin and Diana, who made a fake Amazing Race and became engaged, and struggled on leg 1 but managed to win seven legs so far; Kelsey and Joey, the reporters who had a not so secret alliance with the Green Team, but managed to finish in second place a record five times; and Logan and Chris, the paparazzi who can’t stop sniping at each other. Clue: Fly to your final destination city, NEW YORK CITY, USA! Once there, make your way to the New York Fire Department Training Facility on Randall Island to get your next clue.

3:55 AM Kelsey/Joey (2nd)

5:37 AM Justin/Diana (3rd)

So teams make their way back to Hong Kong International Airport and arrive in the following order:

1- Logan/Chris

2- Kelsey/Joey

3- Justin/Diana

Unshockingly, all teams get on the same flight to New York City. Teams arrive at JFK and depart in cabs in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana

2- Logan/Chris

3- Kelsey/Joey

Teams travel to Randall Island and find the training facility. Teams get the clue in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana – who let their cab go. (Toyouke: "OOPS")

2- Logan/Chris – who keep their cab.

3- Kelsey/Joey – who keep their cab.

And teams get the envelope with the twelfth and final roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to play with fire?

In this roadblock, one team member must complete an FDNY training program that included putting on a fireman’s suit, climbing a ladder into a building, rescuing a dummy, and delivering the dummy to a gurney below. Once complete, roadblockers would be directed to the first part of the final task.

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- Justin
2- Chris
3- Joey 

 

After much training, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Justin/Diana

2- Logan/Chris

3- Kelsey/Joey

And the roadblockers are led to the first part of the final task.

FINAL TASK PART 1:

Roadblockers must take fire helmets with the capitals of all the countries they visited on them (plus some decoys) and place them in the correct order. For reference: Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Lusaka, Harare, Paris, Amsterdam, Warsaw, New Delhi, Beijing. Once in order, teams receive their next clue.

Teams complete the task in the following order.

1- Justin/Diana

2- Kelsey/Joey

3- Logan/Chris

Teams are now instructed to travel to the location of “the final race of the Triple Crown” which is a reference to Belmont Park, where teams will get their next clue. Teams start making their way to Belmont, but Justin and Diana have no cab, and the other two cabs refuse to take them. Logan and Chris’ driver gets frustrated and leaves, so Logan and Chris try and steal Kelsey and Joey’s cab and fail. (Toyouke: "Every time Justin and Diana fail I am so satisfied because I am a terrible person.") When all the ridiculous is over, teams FINALLY arrive at Belmont in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Logan/Chris

3- Justin/Diana

Teams are now instructed to head to the field inside the track and board a helicopter to the Hamptons to get their next clue. Teams board helicopters in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Logan/Chris

3- Justin/Diana

Teams then fly to the Hamptons and arrive in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Logan/Chris

3- Justin/Diana

Teams find their clues and are instructed to run to Shinnecock East County Park to the marked jet skis and ride them to the marked lobster boats to get their next clue. Teams get their jet skis and arrive at the lobster boats in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Logan/Chris

3- Justin/Diana

Teams are now instructed to help the lobstermen pull up seven full traps and replace them in order to perform the second part of the final task. Teams replace the lobster traps and finish in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Logan/Chris

3- Justin/Diana

Teams are now led to the second part of the final task.

FINAL TASK PART 2:

Teams must now unlock a box containing flags from all the visited countries (and some decoys) and hoist them on the line in order that they were visited. For reference: United States, Brazil, Argentina, Zambia, Zimbabwe, France, Netherlands, Poland, India, China. Once in order, teams receive their next clue.

Teams complete the task in the following order.

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Justin/Diana

3- Logan/Chris

Teams are now instructed to return to shore and find the marked dune buggies to ride the marked path to get their next clue. Teams return to shore and arrive at the dune buggies in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Justin/Diana

3- Logan/Chris

Teams ride dune buggies and arrive at the clue box in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Justin/Diana

3- Logan/Chris

Teams are now instructed to build six Adirondack Chairs. Once teams do so properly, they can perform the third part of the final clue. Teams build and complete the chairs in the following order:

1- Kelsey/Joey

2- Justin/Diana

3- Logan/Chris

And we experience part three.

FINAL TASK PART 2:

Teams must now arrange the Adirondack chairs in order based on the pictures on the backs, which are taken from various tasks on various legs of the race. They are the water bikes (Task, Marina del Rey, Leg 1), the sideways tango (Roadblock, Buenos Aires, Leg 2), the lion encounter (Task, Victoria Falls, Leg 5), the windmill village (Roadblock, Molenwaard, Leg 7), the Taj Mahal (Pit Stop, Agra, Leg 9) and the Peninsula Hotel Rolls Royce (Task, Hong Kong, Leg 11). Once in order, teams receive their next clue.

Teams complete the task in the following order.

3- Logan/Chris

Teams now learn that they must run up the marked path to 1620 Meadow Lane, a Hamptons mansion, to find the FINISH LINE of this racearoundtheworld. The first team to arrive WILL win the Amazing Race!

5 continents, 10 countries, 34000 miles, Kelsey and Joey, you are the winners of The Amazing Race 27! And Justin and Diana are disappointed. But the eliminated teams are thrilled. As am I. (Toyouke: "Me too!")
