TAR21, Recap Leg 10, 12/2/12

Welcome to Leg 10! Last time, on We Shouldn’t Have Gone Back to Frankfurt, teams raced from Moscow to Amsterdam.  The Dream Team Alliance made a plan to screw over Abbie and Ryan, which ended up working due to continued issues with flying through Frankfurt.  (Toyouke: “I guess in terms of strategy, last week's U-Turn was a good idea, in terms of making absolutely sure Abbie and Ryan were U-Turned and they were the only ones U-Turned. But what if they hadn't been last? Then it would have been wasted. “)  So, Abbie and Ryan lose their chance at $2000000.  And the Beekmans are still going strong!  Who will be eliminated. . . next? Clue: Fly to Barcelona, Spain!  Once there, teams should make their way to the Port and catch the night ferry to Mallorca.  Once there, teams should take a taxi to Dalt Murada and search the devils and demons spectacle for their next clue.

(Toyouke: “"Mallorca" is not hard to pronounce.”)

Teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

1- Natalie/Nadiya
2- Jaymes/James

So, teams get the following flights:

Flight 1: Amazing Green Line, departs 6 AM

1) Natalie/Nadiya – (Toyouke: “Yes yes, it's great you got a direct flight. But did you miss the part of the clue where it said OVERNIGHT ferry?”)

Flight 2: Amazing Yellow Line, departs 7:20 AM

1) Jaymes/James

Flight 3: Amazing Blue Line, departs 7:55 AM

1) Trey/Lexi

Flight 4: Amazing Red Line, departs

1) Josh/Brent

Teams arrive in Barcelona in the following order:

1- Natalie/Nadiya
2- Jaymes/James
3- Trey/Lexi

4- Josh/Brent

Teams then make their way to the ferry terminal in the following order:

1- Natalie/Nadiya
2- Jaymes/James
3- Trey/Lexi

4- Josh/Brent

When the first three teams arrive, they find out that the boat doesn’t leave for 13 hours.  (Toyouke: “Yeah...when the ticket office doesn't open until 10am, probably you are going to be sitting around for a while waiting on this ferry.”)  So they enjoy the beach.  Teams then get on the 11 pm ferry, and teams arrive in the following order:

1- Josh/Brent – (Toyouke: “That's true, what Josh said. It's been a surprising number of legs without bunching and with everyone being really spread out.”)
2- Jaymes/James
3- Natalie/Nadiya

4- Trey/Lexi

Teams now make their way to the Dalt Murada.  Team arrive in the following order:

1- Natalie/Nadiya  
2- Trey/Lexi

3- Jaymes/James  

4- Josh/Brent – (Toyouke: “I would like them to win, but they just don't seem to have enough competitive drive to keep up with everyone.”)

Teams search the devils and find their clue in the following order:

1- Natalie/Nadiya 
2- Trey/Lexi

3- Jaymes/James  

4- Josh/Brent

Teams are now instructed to pick a marked car (for the FIRST TIME on the ENTIRE RACE) and drive themselves to Centro de Alto Rendimiento to get their next clue.  Teams then arrive in the following order:

1- Jaymes/James
2- Trey/Lexi

3- Josh/Brent  

4- Natalie/Nadiya -- who have trouble driving stick shift.

Teams now get the eleventh roadblock clue.

ROADBLOCK:

Who wants to get smashed?

In this roadblock, roadblockers must choose a tennis pro and a basket of balls.  Once on the clay courts, the roadblocker must return 20 balls from the machine to get their next clue from the referee.

(Toyouke: “Why do you have to pick a tennis pro? They don't do anything.”)

The following teammates take the Roadblock:

1- James
2- Trey
3- Josh – (Toyouke: “Why is Josh taking this Roadblock when his ankle is busted? Why do you make such dumb decisions!?  Brent, this has nothing to do with anxiety levels and everything to do with the fact that HIS ANKLE IS HURT.   The stupidest part? Brent is a DOCTOR.”)

4- Nadiya

After much tennis, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James

3- Josh/Brent  

4- Natalie/Nadiya

Teams are now instructed to drive to Camanet and find the coves and follow music to find the clue.

Teams arrive at the coves in the following order:

1- Jaymes/James
2- Trey/Lexi

3- Josh/Brent  

4- Natalie/Nadiya

And teams get the clue in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi
2- Jaymes/James

3- Josh/Brent  

4- Natalie/Nadiya

And we get the Detour Clue.

DETOUR:
Spit It OR Bull It
*Spin It: Teams must repair a 400 year old windmill in Sa Pobla by attaching two blades using the provided equipment.  Once the blades are attached, teams find Don Quixote and Sancho Panza to get their next clue.
*Bull It: Teams travel to Muro and find the bullfighting ring.  Once there, teams get into a bull costume and run through eight matadors and hit the bull’s eye on the ninth in less than 2 minutes.  If done properly, teams will get their next clue.

(Toyouke: “This Detour seems...lopsided. "Attach two windmill vanes" or "Dress up like a bull and run around".”)

1- Jaymes/James choose Spin It

2- Trey/Lexi choose Bull It

3- Josh/Brent choose Spin It – Josh: “I'm really good with tools.”

4- Natalie/Nadiya choose Spin It – (Toyouke: “I wonder how far apart the Detour options are. It changes if the twins should have bailed when they saw the Beekmans and gone to do bullfighting.”)

Teams complete the detour in the following order:

1- Jaymes/James
2- Trey/Lexi

3- Abbie/Ryan  

4- Josh/Brent

Teams now must make their way to Castell de Bellver, the PIT STOP of the tenth leg of this racearoundtheworld.  The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated!

Teams get to the Pit Stop in the following order:

1- Trey/Lexi – who win a trip for two to Riviera Maya.
2- Jaymes/James
3- Josh/Brent

4- Natalie/Nadiya

Natalie and Nadiya arrive and find the third nonelimination leg of the race.  They will have a speed bump on the next leg.
