Project Runway 8/27/26--"Designing with the Stars" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: for no reason, some designers from last season showed up and were “competing” against this season's designers for the unconventional materials challenge. Everything was old tech. There was a bunch of stupid drama that I'm not talking about, and then Bi did well and Bryan didn't, and everyone was salty about how Bryan had immunity. But they didn't even say who won before the show ended. (click for more)

Project Runway 8/20/26--"Battle of the Seasons" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: Naheim won, for making paper towels look like denim. Elizabeth almost didn't go back out to the runway for critiques, but she did and then she was eliminated and got mad about being eliminated. Today's challenge is to make a red carpet look for Heidi for the premiere of “The Devil Wears Prada 2”. Whatever. Bryan won, even though his dress was terrible and people thought so before they knew it was from the show. For no reason, Bryan got to pick out who the bottom three designers were, and he chose Naheim (who had immunity), Bobby, and Jude. And then there was no cliffhanger! I know! Bobby was eliminated. Project Runway 8/13/26--"The Devil's in the Details" summary

Previously on “Project Runway:” Aaron went home because no one will get rid of the drama potential of Bi and Bryan. The challenge was to make clothes out of paper towels. Because of reasons. This better not be the only unconventional materials challenge. Anyway, most people managed to make things that looked like cloth, until they walked to the runway and stuff started tearing. For judging, everyone had to say who they were the least impressed with, and most people said Joseph because I think once someone puts up a name everyone just goes with it. Law is a dick about it, because he doesn't like Joseph but Joseph's designs haven't been poor enough to put him in the bottom. Bi and Bryan were in the top, along with Naheim and Jeffrey, and Bobby, Elizabeth, and Anna were in the bottom. But we don't find out anything else because Law and Tyra had to have a fight about nothing. (click for more)

Project Runway 8/6/26--"Viva La Fashion" summary

Previously on “Project Runway:” Chloe and Andriy were eliminated. Chloe was pretty resigned, but Andriy was pissed. The challenge was to have head-to-head battles based on animals, because the Humane Society is the sponsor. I mean I guess so. The models were random reality stars, and Veejay. Then one of them bailed last minute, so they had Chloe do it. She looked great, to be honest, but it sucked for those two designers who had to remake the garments at the last minute for a model who is a different size. Oh and then the judges voted on who wins the head-to-heads because of drama, I guess. Jude won, which is fine. The bottom designers were Bryan, Aaron, and Bi. (click for more)

Project Runway 7/30/26--"Catwalk on the Wild Side" summary

Previously on “Project Runway:” Bi was saved, of course, because that's the most drama option. Then for some reason Project Runway has paired with the NFL to make like, fashion offerings or something. Also a team challenge. Bobby actually wanted to lead but wasn't picked because of the “random” button bag, so of course she and Andriy (the actual leader) fought about everything. Lots of outfits with huge shoulders. Joseph's team won, and then he automatically won Super Bowl tickets but we never confirmed his look was the best on his team, just that he was the team captain. The four people who they seem to be considering for elimination are Bobby, Andriy, Jeffrey, and Chloe, and it's a double elimination. (click for more)

Project Runway 7/23/26--"In It to Win It" summary

Previously on “Project Runway:” Jeffrey was in, meaning R'Bonney, Plane, and Robby were all eliminated. The next challenge was to make whatever you would like, in one day. It's framed as “redemption” but some people don't need redemption? Anyway, this time five people will be eliminated. Then Christian reveals a twist: the top six from last week (the people with immunity) and the six eliminated designers are all going to vote to save someone. So one of those five people who is eliminated can stay. None of the people with immunity were in the top, and it's implied that all of them were terrible this week, but I don't think they all were. Joseph won and got immunity, because that's the win most likely to piss off everyone. Octavius, Dani, Bi, Bao, and Yangyang were all out. Don't think I don't see how how many Asians are in that list. So now we have to wait to see who gets saved. (click for more)

Project Runway 7/16/26--"Ready, Set, Redemption!" summary

Previously on “Project Runway:” we've decided the last season is the direction we'd like to take the show. There are 22 designers and Tyra Banks is here to judge. Not an actual designer. The only good thing is that six people will be eliminated. The bad news is we are back to cliffhanger eliminations. Everyone brought a look from home, so these looks should have been well constructed. Also we don't have time to watch construction and then have a runway that shows everyone. Six people were winners and have immunity: Bryan, Bobby, Elizabeth, Chloe, Jude, and Andriy. They initially called eight people out in the bottom, for some suspense. Jennifer, Andrea, and Lré were all eliminated quickly, with no suspense. Dani is in. So out of R'Bonney, Plane, Robby, and Jeffrey, only one gets to stay. (click for more)

Project Runway 7/9/26--"22 for Season 22" summary

The last season of this show was not very good, and for this season they seem to have doubled down and hired Tyra Banks and cast 22 designers. I have zero motivation to even watch this show, let alone motivation to write about it, but we'll see. I was going to write this as it happened, but I just couldn't get up the motivation to deal with it until Friday morning. Certainly if this season drags on and they don't start doing double or triple eliminations, I don't think I can summon up motivation to start a 90 minute show at 8:30pm on a school night. I think this is what I did last season and seemed OK. Let's see how long I can last. (click for more)

Project Runway 9/25/25--"See You on the Runway" summary

As promised, just a week late. But you got the idea from the recap I got up, right? You get the essentials. This one is going to have more detail, but I copied my original post and just filled in details. I almost didn't do it, but I did say I would get a more thorough recap up. I just am having a hard time getting motivation because this season was so irritating. (click for more)

Project Runway Season 21 Finale

Hello everyone! Like I said last week, I had plans this evening, and then I am headed out of town. I won't be able to get to a recap until probably Tuesday, but I didn't want to leave everyone hanging until then. So I am going to do a bare-bones commentary, so you can know who won. Next week I'll have a proper recap up (and also Amazing Race will get going soon!). I know a couple of people commented on last week's post about spoilers so that will be behind the cut. Project Runway 9/18/25--"Something Wicked" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: Yuchen is sent home, which is fine. Then it's time for the “real women” challenge, which is actually sponsored by a drug company so everyone can make clothes for people with eczema. Why pay to advertise your drugs if you still need to watch the fabrics you use? Doesn't that imply your drugs don't work? Anyway, there are two men just for added difficulty. One of them flirts with Jesus, which everyone likes until he doesn't want to look effeminate. Veejay ended up in the top, because her client liked the boring look she made. Yes it's time for everyone to shift away from never caring about the client to rewarding any design that the client likes. Also you have to do a reveal. Antonio finally won, but to be fair it was great and had actual reveals. Jesus and Belania were in the bottom, and then Heidi said you're both out and then it was “to be continued”. Project Runway 9/11/25--"Threads of Confidence" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: Joan was eliminated, which is fine because people are going to see her tailoring and she'll have jobs. The challenge was to make western outfits, which is fine. It's not exciting but at this point we're just trying to get to the end. The twins basically made the same outfit: a miniskirt, bandeau top, and jacket, in white leather. Jesus won but I wonder if it's basically because Antonio is the only one who hasn't won a challenge so it will drive him insane. Veejay made a bodycon dress with red transparent vinyl fringe, and Yuchen made a silver sequined gown with matching horns right on her boobs. So that's the two bottom looks. (click for more)

Project Runway 9/4/25--"Runway Rodeo" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: Madeline was eliminated, because she was boring and sad. Then everyone had to make streetwear, which was not well defined and not everyone makes streetwear but fine. Ethan made a bodysuit which was basically elastic straps, but was safe for some reason. Antonio declared at the beginning of the episode he was ready to beat his brother at something, so naturally he was in the top. Belania won, though. Everyone thought Yuchen was going to win, but he was too boring and everyone is like offended. Joan had too much tailoring and ugly fabric so she's also in the bottom. (click for more)

Project Runway 8/28/25--"Hit the Streets" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: Joseph McRae was voted out, because there is no way they'd let a twin go home, and Joan is more mainstream. Then everyone had to make a “companion” piece for their unconventional materials look, which is a problem if you hate your unconventional materials look, as Joan and Madeline do. Joan managed to get some tailoring together for a suit, but Madeline was not successful. The twins helped each other, of course, and people got really pissy about it. Like, sniping that it must be nice to have your best friend here for moral support, I wish I had my sibling here, etc., as if they wouldn't also be leaning on them and pissing everyone else off. Belania got screwed over because her model called in sick last minute and she had to take in her outfit 4 sizes. Which is why it should be all plus-size models. Antonio was in the bottom but Heidi said it was her favorite because of course she did, so he is probably safe. Madeline had a sad outfit, and Belania had a boring outfit and resting bitch face. Veejay won, which is good because she should have won the unconventional materials challenge but we had to have only Law judge to cause drama. (click for more)

Project Runway 8/21/25--"Complementary Couture" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: Angelo was eliminated, because he is too boring and the producers know they can get some good TV out of Ethan. Then we had the unconventional materials challenge, which is a staple and always at least decent. And they did away with teams! So it was not bad. Even when Christian announced that the runway would be in the workroom, that just meant they'd have decent lighting for once. But the enshittification of the show continued, because there was only one judge: Law. And Law felt that Yuchen's soccer ball bikini, where he just cut balls in half and slapped them on his model, that should win over Veejay's lacy badminton shuttlecock dress. Then he put Joan, Joseph McRae, and Antonio in the bottom and told the remaining designers they would vote for who goes home. Because they think we all want to listen to these people bicker? I want to watch Jesus suddenly go from calling Veejay a bitch at every turn to telling everyone she's right, just because she wants to keep his twin in the show? Nope. (click for more)

Project Runway posts on Fridays

Hi all, I'm gonna make a blanket decision that Project Runway recaps will be posted on Fridays. School started back up and in addition to being wiped from school, the fact that it starts so late and I have to be up early means I don't really want to stay up.  Plus if I'm being honest? I don't have the motivation with how this season is progressing. So they're going to be up Friday afternoons/evenings.

Project Runway 8/14/25--"Sew Elementary" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: We're apparently going to continue the nonsense of cliffhangers and waiting for the next week for eliminations. However, I've seen previews, and a shot from Good Morning America, with at least one spoiler. This is in addition to Heidi going out in a winning outfit and telling everyone whose it was. So even though we are going to have cliffhanger endings, we're also not putting forth any kind of effort to avoid actual spoilers. Anyway, Alex was eliminated, and then Ethan and Jesus picked their own teams because we don't have leadership or whatever. They had to make exciting clothes out of “boring” fabric, which is dumb because one fabric was denim and one was a lovely sage wool. Ethan wanted “showstoppers” so his whole team had completely ridiculous clothes and everyone hated them. Belania won because she was picked last. You know that's why. Ethan, Angelo, and Joan were the bottom three, with Joan having a slight edge. (click for more)

Project Runway 8/7/25--"Boring to Brilliant" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: First things first, Caycee was the first person eliminated. They're going to keep this cliffhanger shit going all season, in case you were wondering how things were going on the new network. Then we kept the teams, but since Ethan won he was allowed to trade one person out from his team. He chose to get rid of Jesus and take Madeline. It means if there is any twin drama, it's on the other team. Then teams had to make athleisure looks that supposedly could be worn to cocktails. You can't have functional workout wear that can go to cocktails. Coffee maybe. Since it's a reality show, of course Jesus's new team won and Jesus was the individual winner. The implication was that no one took over Ethan's team so they didn't have direction, whereas the twins, while bossy, did force everyone to conform and be cohesive. Whatever. Also we continued with the chyrons counting down to the next event (Christian's visit, model fitting, whatever). I think if we're going to constantly update us on time left, you should give us the challenges in number of hours and not days, and then every chyron is just “X hours left”. Alex, Angelo, and Veejay are the bottom three, and they don't seem to narrow it down immediately like they did last time. (click for more)

Project Runway 7/31/25--"Feel the Burn" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: we went right back to what people hated about the Lifetime seasons with twins and a team challenge. Oh and sponsors, because supposedly many designers get into fashion because of Disney princesses, so we had a Princesses group and a Villains group. Jesus decided to be in charge of his group, which meant calling people bitches and getting bossy, and then insisting it was just that other people were not team players. This continued after his team won and he got some negative critiques. Angelo (Jesus's twin) and Caycee (who was on season 19 and went out first) are the bottom two, but they ended the episode before we found out who lost. (click for more)

Project Runway 7/31/25--"New House, New Rules" summary

Previously on “Project Runway”: it's been a couple of years since we saw this show, and they ended with an All-Stars season for Season 20 so it seemed like maybe the show was ending. And then there was nothing for a long time. I have hesitations about this season, because we've moved off Bravo again. When the show was on Lifetime, the judging was...not great. Not that the judging has always been stellar all the time on Bravo. But I felt like Lifetime put so much emphasis on casting people with backstories, and drama, and things that were not design. And now there are no designers on the permanent judging panel! It's Nina and Law Roach, and Law is great but he is not a fashion designer. Also Heidi is back, and that's more drama. If you recall, when she and Tim left the show, they left at the same time. You remember that one year where we didn't get Project Runway but instead got Under the Gunn? That's because Tim and Heidi had an agreement that they would not do the show if the other one wasn't involved. Under the Gunn existed because Heidi couldn't film a season and Tim refused to do it without her. And now the current producers of Project Runway approached Heidi and not Tim, and when Tim's agent went asking about it, they said they were not interested. So there's some level of betrayal, added on to the fact that I did not miss Heidi at all. Anyway in summary I don't have high expectations for this season but I guess we'll see. (click for more)
