Welcome to Leg 3! Last time, on Swedish Roulette Looks Different When It Involves Tomatoes, 12 teams raced from Vancouver to Madrid. Three more Express Passes were used: Daisha and Dalton used it to get out of a Swedish Roulette Roadblock with tomatoes, Cody and Jaime used it on the ham and charcuterie detour just to get done with the leg, and Jody and Jenn used theirs on the history detour when they thought they were in last place. Ali and Joanna finished first, and the sisters Katie and Charlotte were eliminated. Who will be eliminated. . . next? (click for more)

Teams now book their flights to Marrakech and all manage to get on the same flight that lands at 12:30 PM. (Toyouke: “Everyone booked the same flight AGAIN? Boring.”) So teams arrive at the airport in the following order:

Because everyone is on the same flight to Marrakech, there’s even less airport scheming than normal.

When teams open their clue, teams discover the third roadblock.
ROADBLOCK:
Who
feels like they are going to pieces?
In
this roadblock, one team member must break pottery that has been
deemed to be recycled and find a clue hidden in one of the pots.
There are lots of pots that are the same, but only enough clues for
everyone, so there are many decoy clues. Once a team finds a clue,
they may rip and read.
In one random clue, there is a new advantage, the Roadside Assistance. The team that finds it may get help from their partner on a Roadblock, and it must be used before the end of Leg 5.
(Toyouke: “Another Swedish roulette? Sigh. Also why is Roadside Assistance not tied to your finish? Why bust your ass if it's random which team gets it? But I like what it is.”) The following team members complete the Roadblock.

After much clay pot smashing, teams complete the Roadblock in the following order:

11- Jody/Jenn – who take over 2 hours to find a valid clue. (Toyouke: “If Swedish Roulette eliminates another team of blonde women that would be wild.”) Teams complete the next challenge and drive past the pottery to do double takes when they see that the moms are still at the task.
Teams are now instructed to travel by taxi to the Agafay Desert and search for their next clue.
So, teams make their way to the Agafay Desert and find the clue box in the following order:

Teams open their clues and we get the third Detour Clue.
DETOUR:
Walk OR Talk
*Walk: Teams make their way on foot in the desert and find two large tires to make makeshift troughs for the camels. Once they roll the tires to the hitching post, they must retrieve 7 bales of alfalfa, deposit them in the tires, and then get two camels and lead them to the food. Once everything is properly set up, the guide gives them their next clue.
*Talk: Teams make their way on foot to a camp where they pick a desert buggy through the desert to find three signs with parts of the name of a tea on them (yan ya yaw ya yah yi yan yat yay al yi yaw yi yan). When they return to camp, they must say the name of the tea correctly for the proctor. If they are correct, the elder pours them a cup of tea which they must consume to get their next clue.

2- Daisha/Dalton choose Walk – but then Daisha is useless, so they Bald Snark to Talk. (Toyouke: “Wait, were they that close to being done with the tires? They could have just finished.”)
3- Conner/Garrett [EP] choose Walk
4- Doug/Dylan choose Walk
5- Anuar/Andrea [EP] choose Walk – and then realize that all of the athletic teams are taking the Walk task, so they use their Express Pass to move on.
6- Dafina/Saran choose Talk – once again, Dafina’s injury makes the call.
7- Ali/Joanna [EP] choose Walk
8- Erin/Javi choose Talk – who manage to arrive at the Detour as Dafina and Dalton are Bald Snarking (Toyouke: “Why did Daisha and Dalton waste so much time before bald snarking?”), so they decide to work together.
9- Michelle/Matt [EP] choose Talk
10- Cody/Jaime choose Talk
11- Jody/Jenn choose Talk
Much trough building and sign memorizing ensues. So, teams complete the detour in the following order:

7- Daisha/Dalton – who notice that Cody and Jaime failed at saying the tea, so instead of leaving right away, they help them so that they don’t have to do the course again. This angers Erin, because she got help from them too, how dare they.

Teams are now instructed to take their taxis back to Marrakech and make their way to Arset El Bilk Garden at Jemma El-Fnaa Square. Teams arrive at the clue box in the following order:

4- Ann-Marie/Riley [EP]

Teams are instructed to find the marked vendor and recreate his fruit display on a nearby cart. Some of the fruit is provided, others must be sourced nearby. Once teams have recreated the display as best they can given the laws of gravity, the proctor will give them their next clue. (Toyouke: “This fruit challenge feels like half a Detour. This fruit challenge also seems complicated for no reason.”)
Much fruit stacking ensues. Teams finish the task in the following order:
1- Ann-Marie/Riley – who use the Express Pass to end the ridiculousness of fruit stacking.

5- Cody/Jaime – and Jaime lets us know she is a nutritionist. (Toyouke: “What in the world is this lecture about organic fruit?”)

8- Erin/Javi – who argue for way too long about the best way to take notes. (Toyouke: “This is the stupidest argument, and if we are arguing about how to take notes on episode three, probably we are not long for this world.”)

10- Doug/Dylan – who are still working as night falls on Marrakech. They finish and watch Jody and Jenn get their official check.

Teams are now instructed to make their way to Koutoubia Gardens, the PIT STOP of the third leg of this racearoundtheworld. The last team to arrive MAY be eliminated! (Toyouke: “I hear you, Phil. . .”)
